I've noticed some people mentioning a private sale CPO Jag. How does that work or am I misreading? Did the seller buy it CPO before and you just get to keep the warranty?

It is my understanding that the original purchaser of the vehicle buys the Select Edition coverage directly from Jaguar. I could be wrong in that it can be added later, but the part I found interesting is that it stays with the car... no transfer required....

Seems some here bought a car, and later found out it was a SE.(Lucky them!)

That's my crude understanding of it so far... Might be missing some of the finer points, so stay tuned to others that know far more...

I bought mine from a private seller and the car is CPO. That extends the warranty to six years or 100K mi. The six year start date is when the car is first put into service which normally means the first time it's registered.

The CPO can be added after the car has been sold. My understanding is that the car must be in a dealer inventory to add the CPO as there is a comprehensive inspection process involved. The CPO on my car was added by a second dealer and the seller I bought from bought it from the dealer. You'll probably pay a bit more for a CPO car as the extended coverage is certainly not free. For me it was worth a few extra bucks for the peace of mind.

CleverName is correct...the warranty transfers with the car when it is resold. There is a good explanation on the Jaguar website and if I remember, they have a listing of CPO cars.

Best,

Ah very nice!

Yes, you're right. The CPO page on Jaguar's main websites explains that:

"Select Certified warranty coverage and roadside assistance start at the conclusion of the Jaguar New-Vehicle Limited Warranty, so you have continuous coverage. In addition, the Jaguar Select Certified Limited Warranty stays with the vehicle even if it is sold, so the second owner can enjoy the same benefits."

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely watch for that. Also, I have my local Jaguar dealer looking for incoming XKs for me. I shall remain vigilant and patient. Woosa

Hi paulevans85,

We are both in the Atlanta area. PM me if you'd like with a way to get in touch with you. I tried yours but you are locked out either by choice or admin restrictions.

Best regards,
