New Jaguar Wheels Mounted today

Richard, I am so happy for you. At last, you found nice set of wheels that fit the car.
I like them. Not too flashy and they compliment the car. Remind of the Aleutian wheels on the XJ xj aluetain wheels - Bing Images

I bought a set of the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo about 150 miles ago, 255/20 front and 285/20 rear. There was no problem getting the 285/20 rear on a 10" rim. The tire could technically go to an 11" rim, but I don't suggest that.
The staggered 8.5" and 10" was a perfect fit for this XKR. The front is the same as the OEM, and the rear OEM was 9.5".....I didn't want to push the wheel or tire out to far. The car still has an agressive look when looking directly from the rear end.
Overall the tires and wheels came out to a perfect combination for the XKR. The ride has not been sacrificed in any way. Still nice and smooth.

No, I have no thought about the chrome mirror covers. Between the new wheels, which eveyone really seems to like (great feedback), and the hydrographic coating on the engine cover, I am at my limit for mods.
Some owners wouldn't even consider the wheels or the engine cover as mods, but I want to try to leave it as is. I really like the look. My original Selena OEM wheels were starting to show lots of wear. I kept the original Selena wheels and may have them reburished, then place them up for sale. They are all boxed and in my garage.
I think the wheels match the color of the car well, and especially with the Hypersilver Jaguar front 1/4 panel vent. The crystal clear chrome headlights also add that extra touch to the wheel selection.
I only had one person tell me they did not like these wheels.
So for now, what you see....is it.

I think they look pretty damn good Richard. Had no idea there was that much involved but I guess with the brake modifications it became necessary. New wheels has been one of the first modifications I wanted to make on my new 2008 XK and seeing others helps a great deal. I like the stock ones but it seems it could look 'better'? Also like the view of the Organ Mountains behind you.

But after lots of research and the hunt for a wheel provider, success was at hand.
Hard to notice but the rear braking system has dual calipers, the larger 4 piston red Alcon UK calipers and the black Brembo calipers. The car will stop on a dime.
Yes, the Organ Mountains are magnificent. I never get tired of looking out the windows at the mountain range.

The smaller Brembo calipers are the parking brake also found on the XJ & S-Type R, as well as other manufacturers such as Aston Martin.

XKR Portfolio’s Alcon R Performance braking system is the result of close collaboration between leading brake manufacturer Alcon and Jaguar’s engineers who together carried out extensive testing at Jaguar’s specialist engineering center, based at the Nurburgring in Germany.
I am not sure if the 2008 Portfolio Edition XKR also had the smaller black Brembo brake calipers but know they did have the Alcon brake package.

The Ace Convex is the same mold as the Braelin BR02, by Fastco.ca. Fastco requires the manuafacturer of their molds to cast the wheels at higher standards.
The Ace Convex is sold in the USA with a 10.5" width, while the Braelin's produced in Canada are the 10" wide rim. The wheels are monoblock wheels manufactured in Asia (China) then are shipped (10.5") to Ace in the USA and (10") to Fastco in Canada.
Once I determined I did not want the 10.5", I contacted Fastco in Montreal.
Fastco has several vendors that will sell the Braelin brand and ship to the USA. The Braelins were actually lower priced then the Ace brand due to the strength of the US Dollar vs the Canadian dollar. Thus with the price of the staggered set up, shipping, brokerage fees that vendors in Canada absorb then pass on, fees to UPS International for filing all paperwork for customs, the whole deal came out to just $1565.00 delivered to my door.
The wheels which are in a monoblock form when received by Fastco was then drilled to my bolt pattern, centerbored and milled to the correct offset. Fastco has a Mazak milling machine which drill and mills to exact precise measurements. Thus they are a "perfect" fit. No wheel spacers were required, and I would not consider using wheels spacers on my Jaguar.
My main concern was the exact fitment. So with guidance from the Director of Technical Services we were able to conduct various measurements with the oversized Performance R brake system and rotors. I also contacted Alcon in the UK who sent me original schematics/drawings of both the 4 piston and 6 piston calipers. There was much more in the technical aspect of measuring than I thought. I even had to measure wheel stud length, take photos of the studs as there are 4 different types of wheel studs, and additionally had to measure the hub. Fastco Canada has a mobile van that is staffed with technicians that will actually meet with a customer on site at any location with 100 miles of Montreal, Ca to conduct exact measurements and ultimately guarantee fitment. Unfortunately we could NOT find anyone within the 100 mile radius of Montreal that had a 2008 or 2009 XKR with the Jaguar Performance R brake package.
I doubt that I will lower the car, as I really don't want to mod out the car, or go into the extra expense that I may never recoup on a future sale.
My reason for securing new aftermarket wheels was that I did not like the OEM Selena wheels that came on the car, and they had several nicks and parts of the chrome were dinged.
If the OEM Selena wheels are refurbished, many vendors will not replace the chrome inserts on the spokes. I could have purchased NEW OEM Selena's but was not willing to spend the high price that Jaguar charges for the wheels. The Selena 20" is now an option accessory for the 2014 Jaguar XF that is now heavily advertised.
This was a real learning experience to get exact fitment. I learned allot about wheels, offsets, milling borings and bolt patterns.
