I do understand that it's a business and Jaguar will produce what people will buy, but I do wish that they could avoid the SUV trap.

As over inflated cars go, it isn't so bad. Rather like a corpulent F-type.

There's also the Sportbrake modeled on the XF...that's coming outs soon as well.

The new F Type coupe will be here in the spring of 2014, and the smaller (round 2) of the "economical" Jaguars may be out in the 2015 model year.

How about just an XF-Type wagon? Give it Land Rover's air suspension and done...

Is the US getting the XF Sportbrake? I thought Europe already had them. I thought they were being used in bicycle races as team maintenance cars.

I saw Sky using them in TdF and would consider buying one, but I don't think they are sold here.

I also am on the fence about a Jag SUV. However, after seeing that photo, I can honestly say that if I ever need to buy an SUV, I will drive the hell out of an XQ. That is gorgeous, as far as SUVs go.

In an odd way, it really cheapens the look of the F-Type for me.

Saw that a while back. They need to flood out the market like Porsche.

I think it will do well. Macan needs some good competition anyway.

Jaguar SUV is just a bad idea IMO.

Yeah, but it's an "artist's impression", meaning a complete flight of fancy. Look at it with your specs off, and it is basically a drawing of a Cayenne with an F-type nose & styling cues. I'm guessing the real thing, if it exists, will be based on the Range Rover Sport platform (which already takes the 5.0 SC Jag engine), but who knows what the styling will be like?

And does JLR really want to compete with itself? A Jag SUV has got to steal some RR Sport sales - I assume it won't be a 'proper' off-roader like the non-Sport RR. I guess if it steals Cayenne/X6 sales as well, it's worth doing. Yet another option in the well-heeled soccer-mom market...

I read this a few days ago and it discusses the naming and the rationale around a Jaguar SUV.

I actually prefer the front treatment on the previous artist's concept

I like that one too, but it features too much Cayenne in the silhouette.

Here are some more pictures of the Q type.

You know what, I think this car will lead to greater awareness of the brand and pull younger buyers into the showroom.

I don't want one but I'll probably want some of the other future cars it'll help fund. Interesting that we're seeing this prior to the small sedan (X760 I think).

I think that what a lot of us 'enthusiast types' miss about crossovers is that we're definitely NOT the target audience. The target audience is usually females for those -- but hear me out before y'all lynch me on this one. I say that from personal experience. My wife (5'2") hates driving most of my cars. She can't see out of them very well, and she doesn't like being that low to the ground. She likes a vehicle to be easy to get in and out of, and tall enough to see over the guard railing of a bridge. It appeals to a much more logical, utilitarian, and non-enthusiast point of view in most cases. Porsche has OVER HALF of their annual production being thrown into their SUVs. It is the volume seller that supports crazy things like the GT3. Personally, I love the new F-Type. I love the variants on the XK from sleeper XKR to the over the top XKR-S GT. I think the new Q thingie here is awesome -- and I'm excited to see it. Maybe I can even convince the wife to trade her Juke in on it!

It's official....It looks even better in real pictures. I am loving the front end, with the J blades incorporated into the headlamps and the bumper surrounds.

Gotta admit it's pretty bad a** looking! Kudos to them if that's what they really plan on the interior to look like. They are going into new territory in SUV design and should drive great when done in all aluminum. I am warming up quickly to this is that's what it's going to be. Maserati must be having high level talks on whether to move forward with their SUV now (that already looks out of date).

I agree, the Maserati SUV is disappointing - was expecting more from them.

Here are some better pictures of the Jaguar SUV......sounds weird.....gotta get used to saying Jaguar SUV.
