Mine is not operating as well , have to wiggle it to open as release has worn out. I will be doing my own fix eventually not using their latch , might just remove lock and use velcro.
On Friday, I took the latch and arm assembly to Bryan at Renaissance Motor Cars in Sarasota. He said he'd never opened the latch assembly and wouldn't want to.
So, I drove down the road to Wilde Jag LR and Steve in the parts department told me the replacement assembly is in stock for the low, low price of......ready for this?
$732 and 6 cents
After grabbing the AED and reviving me, he gave me the number of a local shop that might have a used part. Ironically, this appeared on the Jag parts Facebook page yesterday afternoon,
In the meantime, I've secured the glove box lid with some industrial strength 'velcro' pads. And they may just stay there.
I have a glove box that is working, albeit dropping down quickly, and a spring with a great big hole where the glove box button should be. Such a beautiful car and such an eyesore right in front of the passenger seat.
I'm happy to secure the darn thing with velcro because I hardly ever go into the glove box but can I just put a dummy lock in place to at least make it look better than it does at the moment?
Also, Steve, you mentioned "I've fixed the dropping lid problem using a zip tie to secure the cable from the piston.". Could you please elaborate on that? Is it something simple to do?
It won’t help you much further, but you might be interested to hear that, when i had bought my XKR, I experienced the same issue.
My local dealership fixed it for 40Euro and it has been working well ever since.

Any advice, much appreciated.
