I know you have been busy but thought I would mention this again for all of us that are suffering from this and after noticing that my driver side vent now has a crack in it as well, without even messing with it. I guess just from the typical movements of driving... any free time coming up?
Man sorry it took so dam long to respond to this!! Ive been super busy with life for awhile, figured i would visit the forum and let everyone know im alive and the car is doing well. Also TexasTraveler lets maybe get going on this 3d printing sutff. We got a new 3d printer at work as my other one took a crap on me a few months ago.
As for everyone else wondering if anything has changed with the Jag I have some fun news. Its getting some major changes, calling it Jag 2.0. New wing mount, new wheels I hope, roll cage, and possibly a targa top like a Supra. Ill keep everyone posted on my progress. I hope everyone is doing well.
Yes F7LTHY. Doc is a great guy, very supportive and kind. The front and side splitters are made of 1/2" Expanded PVC. Very light and very strong plastic. You can router the edges like its butter. It does make a mess when cutting but worth it in the end. I bought an entire 4x8 foot sheet for $90 and it made both my sides and the front splitter.
For me, the story of this car supersedes the build itself. The stolen keys, the mechanical "issues", the diagnosis', the mental anguish of almost needing a new engine and then not, the happy ending, etc., etc., it all goes so well into the story line.
The story of this build has been a roller coaster thats for sure, but for the most part pretty awesome. I have an oil leak under the car and a few Jag enthusiast are telling me its the tranny pan gasket. So not so bad I guess, looks somewhat easy to fix if thats really the issue. My air ride pump a few weeks ago started smoking and I thought my car was going to go down in flames. Thankfully I installed shut offs to the pumps to quickly kill the power. There has also been other interesting stories dealing with the car but I cannot think of them at the moment. lol

Yesterday was the start of a new journey with the car. The new look. My wife and I took on wrapping the car again but this time a nice blue color very similar to the XKR-S blue. The exact color is Avery Dennison Intense Blue and cost about $600 for the 75ft x 60" roll which should wrap the entire car. In 4 hours last night we managed to get one entire side and the hood done. We have the front and rear bumpers, the passenger side and the back hatch yet to wrap blue and then I might wrap the roof gloss black, not sure yet.
The list is much smaller for what im doing to the car this time around.
- New wrap (Avery Intense Blue)
- New splitters, diffusers, canards
- New chassis wing mounts (arrive this week!)
- Removed the large subwoofer, was overkill and took up to much room.
- Completely redoing the entire air ride system, new pumps, 3 pillar guage cluster with air ride readouts and more.
Here is some mods Ill wait until after summer to take on which are much more difficult.
- Roll cage!
- Targa top similar to a Supra!
The cold air intake was a nightmare. I used a K&N intake and my car didn't like it at all, actually made my car blow white smoke. Removed the intake and it went back to normal. So as of right now I dont have a custom intake. So I would like to know myself if anyone has tried an aftermarket intake on the 4.2 Non supercharged engine.

I sometimes have vinyl come loose or pull up on my trim pieces. To stop that you use a small brush and put Primer 94 on the backside of your trim. Do NOT put it on the front of any trim because it can damage the surface. This primer makes the vinyl stick really well and since then I never have an issue of vinyl releasing or curling up. Also if you have a good enough brand and it for sure is Cast vinyl (not calandered) then it shouldnt shrink much and cause issues.

If you do to, make sure you change the rubber boot on the electrical connector at the same time. Age and heat make it prone to cracking when you disturb it, and it's a real pain when it starts to leak after you've changed the pan, and you have to take everything apart again.

Since you don’t have forced induction not sure how much benefit you will get from more airflow. As long as you retain the oem MAF mount you should be fine.
So it would seem you may be enjoying a new color scheme for your Jag yearly......I love it!!!! Please be sure to keep us posted here....oh, and think about writing a book on this adventure, I'd buy it!
HAHAHA.. a book would be interesting. I did video this entire rebuild so far so Ill have that on my channel eventually. Next year if I get bored of the wrap maybe Ill just make it the stock beautiful silver color, then just wrap the fender flares silver..

I picked up my new wing mounts today. I created the templates with carboard and then gave them to my friend to scan and draw up in cad for his works CNC machine. Took a few weeks but they are done and look amazing! Pretty thick aluminum that I will have to powder coat or paint black. This design still uses the same mounting spot on the hatch but also mounts to the bumper (called chassis mount). I have special brackets im designing with quick release pins so I can still open the hatch. Those poor hatch shocks will for sure not handle the weight, I will upgrade them if possible.
Also got my new air ride pumps in. Airmaxxx 580s.. these things are a beast!!
