Default New XKR Owner - Just road tripped it 1600+ miles after purchase

Hello from Brooklyn, NY! Just picked up a 2011 XKR convertible in Botanical Green last Thursday from a dealer near Fort Lauderdale, FL. My wife and I took a road trip from NYC to FL to collect the car and spend some time with family and friends plus vacation time in the Keys. All in all it was a great trip, the driving experience is wonderful and the car is quite good aside from a couple of minor things that need addressing (mostly cosmetic) The only really broken thing is the adaptive headlights (the lenses need restoration as well) which I'll be addressing very soon. The XKR joins our daily-driver 2017 F-Pace 35T in British Racing Green.

Thanks to some pre-reading on this forum I bought a Bovee bluetooth adapter in advance so I had bluetooth audio for the trip, also learned how to use a number of other features on the car using the manuals linked in the forums (electronic oil level sensor most importantly). Looking forward to many happy miles, first stop for the car now that it's home will be an oil change and post-purchase inspection. The car has 69K miles and lived in the vicinity of Naples, FL until the selling dealer got it (2 prior owners).

Welcome! Your first mod will be to get and install thejagwrangler.com Remote Top and Rear Window Control. Also get yourself either an OEM or aftermarket windscreen. The combo will make your top down highway driving very comfortable!

Congrats on the new car, love the color! My car actually resided in Key West until 2018 or so.

Nice! Agree with the suggestions here.
One tip - the thing installed behind the seats to buffer the wind is a "wind deflector." Took me a bit to realize that as I was searching online for one (and nothing was showing up)-- and yes it should be one of your first acquisitions!

Thanks everyone! No plans for mods at this point, right now the plan is to make sure maintenance is up to date and address the headlights - adaptive fault and Florida sun-baked lenses. Beyond that, need to grab a CTEK battery maintainer and cover for winter storage. She's going away for the winter once there's snow in the forecast.

Further down the road I'll need a rear seat cover more than a wind blocker, we have a huge dog but she'll fit across both rear seats

Welcome - You are in for some fun times. A strong second on the Jaguar Wrangler's automated top function and the wind deflector.

Quick update - Car drove perfectly the whole way home but one drivability issue did surface yesterday. At part-throttle going up hill at highway speeds (50-55mph) there is some slight hesitation, not sure if its an engine or transmission issue. At any rate, the car is in at a a local euro car specialist for an oil change and post-purchase inspection. From there I'll take care of anything vital before putting it in storage for the winter.

Fortunately, I was able to get service records from the original dealer (Jaguar Naples) - 26 pages worth (!) Highlights from the last couple of years include a full 60K service, new OEM brakes all around and (my favorite) the heater manifold and supercharger isolator. Previous owner basically did open-checkbook maintenance at the dealership.

Congrats on the purchase! That's a great color combo. I also bought mine out of state and then drove it back 1200 miles. I would change all the fluids if that hasn't been done recently, especially things like the diff fluid, transmission fluid, and supercharger oil. Enjoy the car!
