New XKR Stablemate

New XKR Stablemate
Ok so after much deliberating on what car to get as a daily driver, double date car, clients and the occasional road trip I have finally pulled the trigger.
Looked at:
Hyundai Equus
S550
E550
A8
500E
And my final choice was this absolutely mint 94' S600. She is gorgeous inside and out and drives like new as well. Been searching the country for some time. The isolated smooth quiet power is perfect contrast for the snarling XKR! In this car - much more so than the newer stuff it feels like I'm driving a showpiece - the pinnacle of "no expense spared" German engineering!
While I want the sleeper understated look on my daily car I loathe how far in these 16's sit. I'm ordering some 18's!

You're right, those wheels look oddly small from the current perspective. Nice car, and it should be pretty bulletproof. The only thing you'll need to watch, as on any older car, are the rubber components (hoses, bushes, connectors, etc.)
I'd like to have a nice big saloon for extra load carrying capacity, but we have nowhere to put it and I wouldn't use it enough. We had three cars for a while a few years back, and it was hard to keep them all 'exercised'. At least our Fabia is a 5-seater, and it has plenty of power, but it is more of a pocket rocket than a long-distance loper.

Be prepared for ENORMOUS maintenance, parts and repair costs, as I experienced with my 1993 600SL, unless you DIY. Oil changes take 12 quarts, the hydraulic suspension system uses a special expensive MBZ oil, and the electronic throttle actuators, accumulators and transmission are all prone to early failure before 30,000 miles. Hopefully, you have all the service records and a good extended warranty. And - I almost forgot - an understanding wife!

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Yes I know maintenance won't be cheap. But I searched high and low for this cream puff. Maintained with no expense spared and all records. But I plan to keep for a very long time like a time capsule so I don't expect it to be cheap.
Regarding wheels, I know us Jag folks have impeccable taste - or we wouldn't be in our beloved XK! So let me ask your feedback on wheels...
I was thinking that such a big car had to have a meaty solid center wheel. But a more modern multispoke would look clean, take some heft and years off the car. The monoblocks are a very dated look, not that I'm trying to dodge the era of the car.
I have also seen a turbine multispoke wheel like an older SL55 on a silver W140. But can't seem to find now. Her are some similar from an S600:
Or these:
or These... Yes they're on an S2000 but you get the idea. Luxury fin look.

Found these Rotiform IND. It is so simple and beautiful. Reminds me of the SL55 turbine wheels but better looking. If only they made in 18". But I'm even considering the 19's! And they're only $339 per wheel in 19".
If I cannot get them in 18" it may be these which are only 21 lbs and only $174 each!!!!

I think the concave wheels look a bit 'custom bling' - putting hot wheels on a stock saloon feels kinda like you're trying too hard. And I don't like the stock S600 wheels - too boring.
I'd go for 'interesting but understated', which is the look that the first couple of flat-faced Merc turbine wheels achieve. Or the style on the S2000, if the Merc ones are too expensive.

The wheels on the S2000 don't look bold enough and the spokes look too thin.
Be sure to post a few pics after they are mounted.

Evoking:
Found your Rotiform IND wheels priced at $279.00 each for the 19" wheels which I think makes these wheels a compelling buy for the Mercedes.
Here's the link.
The seller is located in McKinney, Texas......which is close to your home.

Hope this helps you.

Nice car. The very first thought I had looking at the top picture; WOW, you finally will have a car with a nice, smooth, cushy ride, given those high sidewalled tires of past. I suspect that such vintage car had no need for electronically controlled dampers, which are, to me, a must for any car that has low profile tires. Without it the ride may change to rather poor. Do consider that when selecting your next set of wheels/tires.
