Newbie with Lowered 08 XKR Portfolio lowered and rubbing
Hello all, this is my first posting since I received my 08 Portfolio back in May, and this is my 6th Jaguar to date (93 XJS, 94 XJS CONV, 99 XK CONV, 2001 XJR and now 2007 XJR Portfolio). I truly love/enjoy this automotive sculpture. More on my vehicles and mods when I get a chance to update my profile.
I know there have been lot's of helpful posts regarding lowering and stance, but I seem to have run into a problem. Like many others, I had installed H&R lowering springs and 15mm spacers all around. No problems with the front, however, according my mechanic the rears would rub aggressively over any bump on the road. He sent (blurry) pictures, it looks like the tires extend almost flush with the outer lip of the fender. Could it be that the offset on the Cremona rims are greater because of the Alcon brakes? I had the rear spacers removed in the meantime and attached photos indicating clearance. You can see the damage to the paint from the rubbing already.
No issues with the wheel well liner either.
Before I decide to purchase 10mm spacers (or less) does anyone have experience/advice they can glean?
Thanks to all those who have contributed valuable information regarding this modification.

What size tires do you have installed on the rear? I have exactly the same setup and still have adequate clearance between the tire and fender lip as shown in your photo.
Did you measure the spacer to make sure it is a 15mm and not a 20mm? Your fronts look like they are out a bit further than mine.
Im curious to know what it turns out to be so please post up your findings. And great looking car by the way...

Thanks PC XKR. The rear tires are the standard 285/30/zr20 which is likely what you have too. All spacers front and rear are confirmed at 15mm. Very odd indeed that this setup is somehow different from others. I took a measurement and it appears that 10mm spacers may work, and I may even consider 5mm to be safe - and, of course, at that point why bother....Wondering if there is a difference in offsets between Cremona and Senta rims.

If you can wait until Monday I would be happy to take measurements of the rims on my car. This might give you a bit more information but your photo definitely shows that the tire is rubbing.
If you like the look and don't mind doing a little modification you could remove a bit of the fender lip which may well solve your problem.
