Newby's first Qs including performance exhaust
Hello all,
I shall leave a detailed introduction aside as I have already posted in the new members section:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/new-member-area-intro-must-5/hello-almost-xkr-owner-187409/#post1739806
My soon to be collected (143 hours - not that I'm counting!) 2011 (MY2012) XKR has done 34,000 miles and has the speed and black packs. The advert said 'performance exhaust' which I assumed to mean the performance active exhaust option. Dealer (main dealer in fact) didn't seem to know about it being an option and I initially feared they were confusing the active exhaust they all have with the performance active exhaust option. However, a quick glance at the build list I thought said 'performance active exhaust' (I have requested a copy) and I'd swear it sounded louder than the last one I requested. Soooo
Q1) Short of getting it up on a ramp to look at the centre section how can I tell for sure?
Q2) Should the outcome of the above affect my decision whether to remove Fuse 19?
Also, somewhat randomly,:
Q3) Should I have a standard size rear number plate or the XK specific size? Really not sure what looks best...
Q4) What else should I be prioritising at this point?
I do also have a question regarding interior trim but I need to sort some photos as context before posing.
Many thanks in advance!

I have the performance active exhaust on my 13 XKR. If you do have the performance active system it will be listed on the build sheet. In addition I have the Mina exhaust backend and get compliments regarding it all the time. I have never removed fuse 19, so I can not comment on that.
These cars sometimes have water pump problems. See if you can get the maintenance record from the dealer to see if it has been replaced. Barring that I think one of the first things that I would do would be to buy an OBD reader and down load the Torque application so that you can monitor both the water temperature and voltage as long as you leave the obd reader plugged in.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. I'm definitely coming into this with my eyes open (backed by a 12 month main dealer warranty :-)
The car seems an absolute minter and has been serviced regularly regardless of how few miles since the last one. However, owning a Range Rover and, until recently, a TVR I am used to the odd, seemingly random, glitch.
Last night I woke up at 2am and couldn't sleep so I downloaded the manual and read it from virtual cover to cover. Fortunately I took screen grabs of the key things I found in it because I'm not sure how much I retained. Too much information and too much excitement!

Does your phone do video? Tape it to the wife's broom and 'sweep' it from the sides to see what's under there.
