Number of XK's sold

An interesting perspective. I'm clearly on the wrong forum to be in the company of two such plutocrats.

I think the XK 5.0 still has a long way to fall in the UK but appreciate the European and US used vehicle markets are very different.
However, one thing that doesn't go away is cost of ownership. I've kept detailed records of all my vehicles for many years and the true cost can make frightening reading. This is the summary for my last 2007 XK 4.2 Coupe extracted from the vehicle history:
The CPM (Cost Per Mile) is a reasonable 0.86 UKP ($1.15) but CPD (Cost Per Day) is 9.69 UKP ($12.94). That's a significant cost even if it's just parked in the garage. To be considered as an investment, values have got to rise significantly year on year. The only Jaguar model to succeed in this has been the E-Type but restoration costs usually chew into any rise in value.
Like you, I've decided to keep my current XK. The main reason is JLR will never make anything remotely like it again. My driving began just before we had speed limits outside built up areas and I'd like it to end with a V8 rather than some soulless electric powered box.

I tend to look at it very simply from a depreciation standpoint, if I paid $50,000 for the car in 2016 and I sell it in 2020 for $20,000 then it was $30,000 ownership cost for 4 years, $625/month. You are a plutocrat also, only you like to know how much financial pain has been inflicted, but in the end you spend the money just like the guys who don't care about the cost. An enlightened plutocrat. By the way, I had to look that word up, well picked by you.
Personally I don't think these will ever become collector classics, but what I say doesn't matter anymore than those who say it will. Only time will tell, every high-end car forum that I have been on the owners state the same. I am rooting for you guys!

For what it is worth, I found this link to the production percentages by year and type. it is a neat drill down that lets you extrapolate and get to a reasonable point as to how many with color and interior color. Although it does not break down fully you at least get a range from exterior color and then from Interior color.
here is the link to the page. Jaguar Data, Info and Specs | GTCarLot.com
I did a quick spread sheet with the data since I was curious on the 2007 XKR - how many starting with the stated number by others of 2,879 converts were made that year.
My question to answer is how many 2007 Total XKR Convertible Exterior Color of Midnight Blue and Interior Color of Ivory were built.
Drill Down
convert super charged exterior color = Midnight Blue
0.08%
2,879 2.3032% = 230
Interior color you can have fun with but total of for ivory ( this is calculated at the 15.9% factor for the color to the number of Vert, 2007 XKRs
2879 * 15.9 = 457
so from this I can deduce that there were less than 230 of the 07 XKR convert, with Ivory made and who knows how many still exists. Hopefully all of them.
Just some fun on a Sunday, now going to go take a drive in it for the real fun!

Now, if there were some solid numbers ... e.g. how many 2007 XK and XKR´s in total?
And I miss the 3,5 lt version.
Thanks again, Hermann

If you want a 4.2.. you have exactly 2 options.
I had no idea these were so rare. Were they not made? Did they make mostly convertibles? Everyone hoarding them now?
Even 4.2 SC x150. Cars.com shows..zero. Nationwide. Of any body style. Where did they all go?

Coincidentally, I was curious and wanted to check out x100 values. Coupe only. There are a total of SIX for sale in the entire US. Six.

I've seen the same thing with DB9s. They have gone up, but more than anything, they've just disappeared off the market. To a lesser extent, same with Bentley Continental GT.

You just HAD to provide that link, did you @Jonesjag !?
Now I’m more confused and disappointed than ever…. look at all the cool jags not in my garage!
Always liked that MK2… hmm… imagine it with updated suspension, engine, brakes, lighting, interior…
wait a minute, is it just me? Are there any good looking cars from the early 70’s?
