Here’s what I received today...MJF Nylon polished finish dyed black. Ordered from Craftcloud-apparently a clearing house for 3D printing. Produced by JawsTec in American Falls, Idaho. $43.00 shipped. Fit and finish seems perfect. Nothing to do but wait for the electronics from Bob...unfortunately for me, I need instant gratification...😎

Looking good Arenaej!

I also have news,
Since the ashtray "round 1" I received a lot of paypal activity on my account, and PayPal started a procedure to check if I am who I say I am.
They demand official documents where I can proof that my paypal name corresponds to my real name.
That is a problem, my real name is my babtistal name, and my paypal name is my christian name so I can never comply.
Since this is happening they have limited my paypal account.
So now I am looking at alternatives. Anyone has an idea?

P.s. anyone who has my paypal address, do not send any money !

Budster 10-13-2020 05:27 PM

Venmo or Zelle seem to work well for me.

ralphwg 10-13-2020 09:49 PM

Does your bank have electronic banking? Or can you use pop money through your bank. Either of those two things could work. Here is the url for popmoney: https://www.popmoney.com/

StiggyMac 10-14-2020 09:10 AM

I've had to send funds to my friends in the Netherlands in the past and unfortunately the most straight forward way has been PayPal.
Venmo and alike seem to be US only.

I just had the same thing after buying two identical TV sets for my two daughters, and having them delivered to two different addresses, neither of which is my registered address of course.

I suggest you just upload your drivers licence or passport and one recent invoice or receipt for something you recently bought via PP (to prove your address). The receipt must be for exactly the same amount and item your PP statement shows. I suspect this will be good enough for them, but it costs nothing to give it a go.

The main thing they want to check is that you are who you say you are and that the PP purchases linked to your account are actually yours - the receipt / invoice does that. There is no way you would have the receipt for a paid PP item if you were hacking the PP account. - a hacker would not want the items he was stealing sent to your address for obvious reasons. Also, you must have a credit card or bank account linked to your PP account, and that will also be tied to the proof of address.

It is just a computer algorithm which has flagged unusual activity on your account (as it did on mine). I would bet that a real human examines the support documents you sent and they will see that everything is above board. In my case, my account was restored within about 4 hours of uploading the proof items.

barnsie 10-14-2020 11:31 AM

Also. Bob, you can actually, believe it or not, speak to a live human at PP! Google for your local contact info - this is what came up for me:

Bob,
I would like to get on your list when you get things figured out. This is something that seems rather important to have.

ralphwg 10-18-2020 06:35 PM

I am pleased to say that I have now assembled all of the necessary parts for the ADU other than the electronics. I got the case and the lid from Xometry. They performed as promised and the case and lid fit the car perfectly. Now all that remains is to receive, install and apply the software to the electronics. Oh, and compensate Bob for this great invention.

Cabrio Bob 10-18-2020 10:41 PM

My paypal issue is being worked on, uploaded documents and waiting for them to respond.
I contacted them by chat rather than telephone.

Those values are weird, you'd expect higher boost at higher revs.
Are those while driving or standing still?
That cap must has gone lost in the packaging material ...

IIRC, the 'boost, on my 4.2, is called 'vacuum' and reads inversely to expectation - ie under greater load the figure is lower. I don't think it is 'real' boost anyway - just a 'calculated' boost from the ECU or whatever, so it isn't all that meaningful anyway. Most of my previous turbocharged cars have had a mechanical boost gauge which reads the actual pressure, not displaying a 'calculated' figure of what the boost 'ought to be'. ICBW of course ;)

PS. What is this 'cap' that has apparently gone missing?

Agreed, I went with the SLS Nylon, I see now that Arenaej went with MJF Nylon... I guess we can now see the differences... Nothing that a little paint or wrap can't fix though, so I am not worried... Going to order vgate and mini charger today, so I will be ready when the time comes...

Tolly 10-20-2020 11:27 AM

Bob,

The values were taken while highway driving, They do seem somewhat inversely proportioned to speed and all over the place.

Barnsie, the cap thing is just the tiny cover on the button that Bob noticed was missing from an earlier photo I took of the unit. Bob noted that the tiny cover was missing. I thought he made a Special All Black Model for me as my XKR is a Black Pack edition. 😉

Actually I checked Amazon and found the cost of a new cap is about £1/ $2 .....for about 100 of them plus shipping. That way I could have some spares or go into the cap selling business. Sort of like it the way it is, though.

I still am so impressed by this display and the seamless operation of this useful device. Anyone lucky enough to get one of these units is very lucky indeed.

Cheers again to you, Bob!

Some news about my paypal issues,
They now changed my first name into my first baptist name,
arising a new problem. I have to re-upload evidence of my home location,
including my full name. All documents I have uses the initials of my baptist names.
In the meantime, I also removed my creditcard and banking account info,
if I have to re-establish those some problems may occur due to the same reason.
Earlier this evening I was about to give up on this and leave it as a sleeping paypal account. I can't even close it.

To be continued ......

Ah - I see now. I looked at the photo for a good few minutes and could see no difference between your unit and mine. Now you point it out, I see it!

Yeah, well it looks pretty fine to me too. A dollar for a hundred! Spares for eternity for all of us!

Total agreement. I was one of the first (second in fact by a few hours) to get one but I am still mightily impressed. I had a friend in my car yesterday and he immediately noticed the ADU and was also massively impressed when I told him it was a custom unit designed and made by a forum member. It is a real and genuine improvement to a great car.
