Sounds great, Bob. I've got the rest of the parts list in and waiting on the electronics. As Ralphwg noted, just let us know when and how you'd like to be paid. Thanks!

Christian C 11-01-2020 06:27 PM

Will there be a 3rd batch?

StiggyMac 11-01-2020 06:35 PM

My printed parts just came in. Let me know to get the funds to you Bob for the electronic parts.

ArtyH55 11-03-2020 04:16 AM

Hi Bob, just catching up with the process to date. Please let me know when I can make payment. Many thanks.
Those who are in the U.K and have not ordered the case, may be a good idea to club together and buy a batch as it will work out less expensive. Let me know if you think this would work for you, or do you have another suggestion?

Cheers,

ArtyH

"Stuart XK" also didnt order the print yet, he can't find an affordable print service in the UK.
I pointed him to website:
https://all3dp.com/2/what-s-the-best...ice-in-the-uk/
I ordered at:
https://www.rapidcenter.nl/
Maybe they ship to the UK.
Dont expect lots of discount when you order multiple prints.

ArtyH55 11-03-2020 05:55 AM

Thanks for the update Bob, worth noting....:)

Cabrio Bob 11-05-2020 09:18 AM

Update,
I'm now ready to ship 9 pieces out coming Saturday,
I'll send some of you a private message with payment details.
G2EOF already paid, but didn't send his shipping address to me.
@Paulgorringe: I'll ship yours as lst since you already have one.

I received some messages already about a possible 3rd round,
this is what I will do:
I have 24 spare PCB's here, I'll finish them to a working device similar to the 2nd round with the same pricing.
When those 24 are gone, no 4th round will happen.
This 3rd round will start when the 2nd is finished.

The past few days it was cold here in the morning and I noticed the device had problems connecting to the ELM327.
When the interior warmed up, connection was successful again.

ArtyH55 11-05-2020 09:57 AM

Many thanks Bob, will wait for details :)

paulgorringe 11-05-2020 09:58 AM

Thanks for the update Bob.
Just let me know when to pay and the total with shipping.
Had a cold morning here yesterday around -3 but no problem connecting as usual

Here's pictures of my display box, as promised. It's probably closer to the smoothness of the removed ashtray than the surrounding panel around the lighter. The color is very close. Overall, I think it will work great!

Both pieces separately

Together showing the smoothness of the surface

The outer box fits quite well into the former ashtray space. The bottom locating pins are quite snug, so it should stay very well.
I'm really looking forward to getting the display from Bob.

I got mine printed by a company in Idaho, JawsTec, www.jawstec.com. It was about $42.00 shipped to the house for both pieces. They were very quick with responses and the pieces came pretty quickly, especially since one piece did not meet quality control and had to be reprinted. Arenaej found them, so I can't take credit for finding them. I'm going to try to get the files left open there, so you'd only have to place the order without having to send the files.

Thanks for all of this, Bob!!! :icon_banana:

This morning I received the tracking info for my package from Cabrio Bob...can’t wait!!😎

fxdwg 11-07-2020 11:17 AM

For some reason, Jawstec has not considered the possibility that multiple people might like to have the exact same part printed. So they are not set up to let one upload of a print document work for multiple orders by different people. Maybe that will change in the future. Every order requires a new upload of Bob's print files.

Cabrio Bob 11-08-2020 11:14 PM

Last Saturday 9 items were sent out.
The remaining items probably will be sent out coming weekend.
Some of the lcd displays still have to be delivered to me.

I guess one could send one file and ask for multiple prints? But they would maybe all have to be delivered to one address...

I could also upload the 3D files to thingiverse. If my memory is up to date, one could order a print directly from there.
EDIT: my memory isn't up to date ....
This was once announced here

Even feel like being late to a party... but finding out you are late twice? :(

Thank you, Cabrio Bob and everyone who has participated in this thread. Needless to say, just (now) stumbled across it and, feeling the pain of no gauges (nor wanting to use Torque for my entire life) would love to throw my hat in the ring should, god willing (i.e. Bob wiling!) there will be a 3rd batch of the "ADU".

Remember, Bob has put full instructions, including all required hardware parts, on his website (see his sig), with a complete manual on how to build your own ADU. Go take a look there and see if it's something you could do. AFAIK all the info you need is there. (This is in case the party really is over now).

possible delay

There is a possible delay,
in a previous post I mentioned 1 delivery still has to take place,
it's the displays that have to be delivered yet. The tracking info is stuck at "The item has been processed in the country of destination" for several days now.
Maybe it never arrives. I filed a complaint with the shipping company yesterday, no reply yet.
The remaining 5 units may be delayed due to this.
In the meantime I re-ordered the displays today and they are due to delivered in 2 to 3 weeks.
If the stuck delivery will arrive, I will use the re-ordered displays for the "3rd round" (and final round).

Folks of the remaining 5 units of the 2nd round which are delayed:
G2EOF
ArtyH55
fxdwg
Stuart xk
paulgorringe

fxdwg 11-11-2020 10:46 AM

Bob,
Thanks for the update! For me, it's not a problem if it's delayed a while. It's not like I'm driving cross country anytime soon. When it comes, I'll get it!

Bill Mack 11-11-2020 11:18 AM

Bob,

Great to hear that there will be another round! :icon_banana:Please put me down for a unit. If you need payment in advance for anything, let me know.

Thanks!
