Just received my '2020 Year in Review' Summary from the forum. Interesting to see that Bob's thread is singled out as one of the most popular! And to see the XK150 listed as one of the most popular forum sections too.
Great job, Bob - thanks for a bright spot in an otherwise pretty dreadful year.
My pleasure! The Forum has been a life saver for me so many times. First time Jag owner. I have used the DYI videos to do the timing chain and tensioners, water pump, complete front end rebuild, etc.. I could not and would not have even attempted this work without the forum. So anytime I can contribute I'm happy to and thank you to all our members.

I am amazed that such a neat solution to such an annoying problem has been so elegantly solved and shared - not just the know how but putting it together for everyone too! Bob its brilliant, thank you. Can't wait to get mine.
I'm quite sure if you assembled some units yourself Bob people would happily buy them for 300 Euros a piece if they're put off by having to get the stuff printed etc (like I was).
I like it Bob. Looks like it is a standard feature.
I've got a more basic temperature indication on my Android phone using the Torque Pro app. Gives peace of mind knowing this.
Hi Bob,
Bit late to the game as only just got my 2007 XKR. Had a distinct lack of coolant after the drive home and an overheat message so I would like to see if there are any more slots available for one of your modules. I can't seem to find the private message function on this forum, either I'm blind or my account isn't old enough! I have a 4.2l x150 and would like Celsius and miles please if there is a chance I can order. Absolutely no rush as its the holidays!
I'm going to try to print out the 3d parts my self, I will see how they go in HTPLA or PETG.
As this is your first post, private messaging is not yet enabled for you.
There are still 19 items left, of which 2 are ready for shipment.
I prototype printed once with PETG (Felix 3.1) and ABS (Ultimaker S5). Although it looked as expected, not quite good enough to post-finish and use in our cars.
(T)PLA might be problematic in summertime due to high temperatures in our vehicles thus deforming the print.
Would I have to wait till messaging is available before placing an order? I'm happy to if needed.
I agree regular PLA would be totally unsuitable but I have used the heat treating on HTPLA (ProtoPasta) previously and seems like it should be sufficient in sunny England. If it doesn't work I can always do it in PETG or send off to get it in nylon.

Welcome to the forum, Matt. I am just a few months ahead of you as to XK ownership. I'm sure you'll find this forum as invaluable as I have. It's the best place to get advice and information from experienced owners and special members such as Bob.
I've been lurking here for while and have already learnt loads. I've only had my XKR for a few days and already really happy. A few issues to get rectified but only worrying one was a lack of coolant, hence the interest in this device!

Welcome! I've had my XKR for about 18 or 20 months now and it has behaved flawlessly. We took it on a 2,000 mile road trip to France in August and it was perfect. I also have learned a ton of stuff in this Forum and, of course, this thread has been the answer to our prayers for an elegant solution to displaying, in particular, water temperature and volts, two critical items on our cars. Bob's ADU (Auxiliary Display Unit) works brilliantly, looks amazing and brings terrific peace of mind.

I'd like to agree from personal experience - and I'm sure the unit is as great as everyone says - but I am still waiting for Bob's electronics to arrive. PostNL clearly has better service than whatever domestic carrier is bringing it to me. Guess I'm a victim of Covid + Christmas online shopping.
BTW, I always thought "ADU" stood for "Ashtray Display Unit" but your version is much more elegant!
The Anker version listed here is what I got. It has a spring on the center pin that's just strong enough to push the unit up high enough to prevent closing the ashtray cover. Otherwise, it works well.
Of the other suggested options, are there any that are known to not get in the way of the ashtray cover?
