Today the last 4 devices are shipped. I'll send an email with tracking info.
Reverend Sam didn't respond, so his device is "waiting". Barnsie, point your buddy to my website, then he can produce one of his own. |
Nice job on the website!

2 items on screen
Got an update,
installing below firmware, coolant temperature and volts are on 1 screen visible. Font size decreased a little from "54" to "47". Attach the device to a windows 10 computer with a micro-USB cable unzip the downloaded file, go into the unzipped folder, doubleclick the "firmware.bat" file, follow the on-screen instructions. windows 7/8/8.1 users, unzip and install this driver software first. Download 4.2 models 5.0 models The result should look like this (coolant F or °C): https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...dcec1addb0.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...00fdf1bd04.png |
Above, 5.0 firmware link updated, there was a code mistake
|
Wow Bob, youre burning that candle!
I can confirm it works on my 5.0. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...7d32aada2d.jpg So not only the first owner in the world (apart from Bob) to fit, but the first to have split screen!! :D Barnsie will be along shortly for his (usual) silver medal position and confirmation of operation on his 4 2 :) |

I'm sure it should read Fahrenheit. Love the dual read out. |

Great update Bob! Love the dual display. And just as legible as the single display.
One thing - although I am using Windows 10, I had to install the device drivers before the ADU could be recognised by my PC. I also decided to change my unit to Celsius + Kilometres for when I am driving in France and Italy. I figured I already have a big MPH display on the dash, plus the MPH is also featured in my Waze window. (I always have Waze running when I am in the car, for speed cameras and other road warnings). Thanks for making it very easy to change from MPH to KPH and back again. |

Amended accordingly now, download was the same minute as your post, so allowing for you completing before you posted on here I'll be fine :)
If not will it self destruct?? :( EDIT: The faulty code would have disabled the last cycle item. |

Looking at the shipment tracking information, there's a 3rd person who received the device (UK).

Good to know. Maybe caused by no internet connection (Windows searches for drivers on the internet).

Cant wait to get home and get my first look at it, thanks Bob. :icon_toast: Which order should I update the unit? EZupdater first or the firmware update for the dual display? Cant wait now to do the updates and get it fitted and tried out, pictures will follow probably tomorrow unless I cannot wait when I get home. :D |
Paul, the update from post #244 is the latest.
that's also an "EZ updater" but not wrapped into an EXE. when I tried that Windows threated it as a virus, so I didn't want to upload that. |
The US is sooooo far away! I keep looking at the tracking hoping it is closer! BOB, truly, you seem to be a wizard at this

I updated the ADU with the new firmware supplied by Bob and as barnsie I had to install the drivers first. Perfect fit and really is a 10 second plug and play.It took longer to take the parts out of the packaging :D Tried to take a picture from drivers point of view https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...b532e9b3e2.jpg |

Of all items that were shipped to Canada and US, only one now has the status "arrived in destination country" which is the one of Marc Voorhees.
Concerning the drivers for the device, you can install those already. To do this, the device doesn't have to be connected to your computer. https://www.silabs.com/products/deve...ge-vcp-drivers |

Some items get delivered quickly others can take 8 weeks. |
DGL,
These drivers are installed on your computer, so the computer recognizes the ADU. |

I'm a little confused with this post, Bob. If these drivers are located on this website for download one will need an internet accessible device (computer with modem) unless our ADU's have modems or have the drivers onboard.
When I first connected my ADU to my Windows 10 PC I ran the updater for my engine (4.2), as described by Bob. The updater opened a window but this is what I got: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...822d960b8e.png Pressing any key terminates the program. I then downloaded the Windows driver using Bob's link. The download took a few seconds and the installation similarly. I did not reboot the PC. I then ran Bob's updater again, and the ADU was found this time. I then just followed Bob's on-screen instructions in the updater program window. After a few seconds the program reported that the update was finished. The only slight confusion was that Bob initially said that W10 has the necessary driver built-in, but my W10 clearly didn't. I would suggest that everyone update the W10 driver anyway. It can do no harm to do so and it only takes a second or two. If you do this before you receive the ADU then you will be all set when it arrives. |
I downloaded the drivers to ensure they are updated or installed on my PC running windows 10. The following is a screen shot of the zip file. It contains 2 install app files. Which one do I execute for the install?
EDIT: Ooops. I just read the readme file for documentation. There are 2 install files. One is named for 64 bit OS and the other is for 86x. I installed the 64bit version of the divers on my PC. I'm ready to go to install the update when Bob's ADU arrives. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...921d401cfe.png |
First unzip the zip file (right-click and select "extract to ..."),
then go into the extracted folder and double-click "CP210xVCPInstaller_x64" for a 64 bit operating system (you probably have) |

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...e05f95ac67.png You can find out what type of machine you have from Windows Control Panel. Unless your machine is pretty old, chances are it's 64 bit, https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...55f7099535.png Bob posted while I was typing. :) |
:) And DGL edited his post while both Bob and I were typing. All sorted now!
|
yes it's clear now,
people with the "windows 10 home" edition probably do not have those drivers pre-installed. I'm running win10 |

Another update
Driving around at night, I noticed when passing street lights, the display of the device flickers, which I found to be annoying.
So I updated the firmware again, which smooths out the change in brightness of the display. Now downloadable from my website. EZ-updater from now on uses the previous mentioned ZIP-method: - connect device to computer (micro USB cable) - download EZ firmware ZIP file - unzip the ZIP file - go into the unzipped folder - double click the "firmware.bat" file - follow the on screen directions. Be sure not to run the "firmware.bat" file from within a WinRAR window. Shipping: This morning I saw a lot of tracking info showing "arrived in destination country".... https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...00fdf1bd04.png |
