Default Occasional Use Insurance in MA

Hi All, Been a few since I have visited forum. Looks like we will start to get some nice weather and I plan to getthe 2008 XKR back out on the road for the spring/summer. This year is different in that I am looking for occasional use insurance. I have requested quotes from the likes of Haggerty, American Collector, Grundy, and even my existing insurance company. All have some concerns with everything from year of car to insurinag in MA.

just wondering what some of the MA residents do for insurance for their Jags to be used recreationally on weekends and shows. I need to get proof of insurance to re-regiater. Any thoughts, recommendations or other would be greatly appreciated.

As you probably do, we take our 2008 XKR off the road for the winter (Nov 1 - Apr 1) and store it in our garage. We take only basic coverage during this time. Come spring we put full coverage back on the vehicle. Though it is not necessarily a daily driver, we end up putting around 3,000 - 3,500 miles per year on it. Our insurance company (AMICA) takes into account our average daily mileage per year when figuring our premium. This seems to work best for us.

From what I've seen, limited-use insurance companies like Hagerty and Grundy cost more than regular old Full Coverage from any common carrier. You can also set the value with common carriers, if necessary.

Haggerty would not quote me as the 2008 model year was too new. American Collector Car Ins would not deal in MA after I chatted with them. Grundy came back with just under $300 on quote, but I'm guessing that will change when I speak with them. My traditional ins company was 8 times that. I am using a $26K replacement value. I know when I had Jag insured full time they used a number closer to MSRP. I really just need to get proof of ins to satisfy MA registry.

Not the case for me. I've gotten quotes 50% off my regular policy that I have with Progressive. I'm talking about 3,000 miles a year, 250/500/100 Liability, 250/500/100 Under insured/Uninsured $1,000 deductible collision, $250 deductible comprehensive....No towing or Rental. Last year I drove under 1,000 miles. Car Insurance is just about the highest here in my county in Fl

Perhaps, it's a MA State insurance program policy? Earlier this month, I cancelled with my Allstate policy and insured my '08 XK-R Portfolio with Hagerty. Zero deductible and 5K miles per year, full coverage and $20K stated value. It is less than $300/yr. Now, could it be I have 2 other collectibles together with 4 Vintage motor scooters and small motorcycles with Hagerty? Dunno! But, it seems strange they would not take on our '08 ????

If you own it outright, don't get collision and that should save you some money. MA is a unique state for insurance and car registration. You may not have any other options except for throwing a dealer or repair plate on it if you have one.
