Default Odd noises. Got any?

For a while now, every once in a while, there will be a slight temporary hum noise that emits from the transmission hump area. Like a slight vibration noise. I could never put my finger on it. I think I at least figured out the reason, not the cause though, on a recent ride thru a rural area (non highway). When I heard the noise, I tried to peek at the tach and lo and behold, every time the noise was present, the tach was at about 1600RPM. So my consensus is there is something resonating at this certain point that may be touching the body or something. Maybe a fuel line? Either way, not too worried about it.

Got any odd noises on your car?

Sorry, reading from my phone so I don’t see your signature to see your car’s year.
There is a known resonance issue on at least some of the early cars, and Jag even had a kit (2 brackets) to address it. The brackets went around the cats, and bolted to the transmission housing.

I'd check the exhaust brackets and hangers. Your XK is 9 years old and the rubber isolators may have deteriorated enough to allow noise from vibrations.

It's a 2010 XK, so that early TSB doesn't apply.

His signature showed up on my Samsung Galaxy S8.

ha! It's not loud at all. I would doubt Hyacinth would be able to hear it.

I'll check the exhaust brackets next time it's on a lift (which is not soon hopefully )

Are you reading via the ‘mobile site’ or the regular ‘full site’?

I have that noise. No biggie. Get under there with a mallet and start listening.

That's why I switch to the full site on my Galaxy S8. I don't like the mobile site format. It usually opens in the full site, but occasionally I have to do it manually. It just takes a second. NBD.

With your bigger screen, that’s a good choice. The full site is a PITA to navigate with a small screen.
