However, to get the darkened appearance shown by dude's comparison, you could either tint the current headlights with headlight tint, or disassemble the housings and darken the shiny bits with paint or something. People have done both methods.

Unfortunately for the car, but fortunately for me, putting it away for the season isn't an option. I am looking forward to our first winter together with nervous anticipation...

On the matter of winter, has anyone dealt with windows frozen to the point that you couldn't open the door?
If so, how did you resolve this issue?
I mean in a scenario where eg a friend you're visiting doesn't have any indoor garage and the car was left for the night in below 0 temperature etc

In my younger days in colder climes I'd use a regular ChapStick stick once a month or so and I didn't have any frozen out problems, and that's in -30 F and lower temps. Turtle Wax also works, just regular paste wax.
Whatever you use, remember to do ALL the seals around the door and glass, there are several. Waxing the metal parts where the seals contact also helps a lot.

My XKR looks grim at the moment too. I actually had to ferry a client back and forth to the studio - 100 mile round trip along back roads - on the worst day of Storm Ciaran. The car ended up looking like I'd been green lane-ing in it! I was too ashamed to post a picture of it.
