oh which one...
So I'm still looking for a new cat .. and with the low numbers of cars going on sale here.. I'm now looking at two options;
'07 XK silver (56.000km) @ $19k
'13 XK White (60.000km) @ $40k
The '13 still has 1.5 years warranty, but is in white, has the 19" wheels and not the full suite of features (missing auto cruise distance thingy)(http://tnydu.biz/DOtjja)
the '07 is full options, 20" .. but.. its exactly the same as I already own (in a different country).. it would be like driving away here.. and when on holiday back at my parents.. drive .. the same.. (http://tnydu.biz/DOtoAf)
oh and then there is the price difference.. I think not much will break during the 1.5 years.. and regular maintenance needs to be done anyway.. (which costs a fortune I know)
Go for white and wrap it? Go for cheap and drive the same?
(on a sidenote.. i need to get better at making decisions)

You are talking about two different engines. the 13 has a 5 litre motor and the 07 has a 4.2 litre engine. In addition the 13 has direct injection which is supposed to be more efficient. Furthermore there were improvements made to the suspension in 2010. Finally in the U. S. anyway, the 2007 wa the first year for the XK whereas the 13 is three years after the mid-cycle update.
If it were me and my budget allowed it, I would go for the 13 for the above reasons plus the 18 month warranty still on the car. By the way the 13 engine puts out 385 horses. Finally why don't drive them both and see if the differences are meaningful to you.
Whatever you do, as you know, it's really hard to wrong with either one if they both are in good shape.

Can I offer a different view? Obviously the '13 is going to be a better car. The infotainment is newer, the interior is newer, and you have an engine with far more grunt, you get some warranty. And you get the LEDs which I think really suit the XK and give it a dramatic face. But then white doesnt really show off the curves of an XK as well as silver (IMO, though I have seen some lovely white ones with black highlights), the engine doesnt sound as good as the 4.2. But what I'm thinking is that I went from a silver XF 4.2 to a black XF 5.0 and it was a bit "been there done that" so I only kept the black one for a year even though it was a better car. If that was you, you might cop more of a hit on the white one than you would in the silver one. If it was me, I'd actually grab an XE S if it was the same price as the white one. Just an awesome car, and I'd be able to get my fix of driving the prettiest car in town with the XK as well. But out of the 2 you are looking at, I think the white one is the better proposition.

Over the weekend I test drove a '14 XK (Jag dealer, 1 surgeon owner, mint condition) and a '07 XKR (used car lot, #owners unknown, fair condition, engine check light & tire pressure light on).
Given all that I had read about the superior 5.0-Liter of MY10 and later, I was surprised to find the '07 R a much more nimble and sporty car, while the '14 non-R felt heavy and sluggish in comparison.
Then I also drove a F-Pace "S", great power and comfort, like the '07 XKR!
A lot of food for thought for the next few days...
