Found this beauty close to home. I got the Lexus 460 sold. Here is a few pics. She has had the duckbill fixed, water pump replaced and transmission serviced. She has 55k miles and I think I can get her for $13,500!! No scuffs. No scratches. No curb rash. Windows tinted. New control arms. Dash great. Tan interior. 2008 XK! Thoughts? Nice deal?
Nice potential ride. But, just to be sure I would have a PPI done by the nearest dealer and have the body checked out be a Jaguar approved body shop. If you can't get the seller to spring for it; $500-600 it would cost would be a good investment. Then you will know just what you aregetting if you still want to pull the trigger.
Good deal is an understatement. Almost seems too good. I would agree with getting a pre-inspection just to be sure. Hopefully it is as beautiful as it appears. Good luck with it, I bought my 08 XK with 35K earlier this year and love it. Hard to tell from the picture but looks like it's indigo which is my favorite color for the XK.
Follow ralphwg's advice in his Post #2. Buyer Beware is Rule #1 when buying any used car. Although possible, it's unlikely that a 2008 XK would have perfect original paint and no curb rash. That makes me wonder if it had been wrecked and repainted, particularly since the price is so low.
P.S. Get the CarFax to see the ownership and maintenance history.

Reason: Added P.S.
I just spoke with current owner, He has done fuel filter, thermostat and housing, trans fluid and filter, duckbill, air and cabin filters, sway bar bushings and brake fluid flush. 2 previous owners and a clean car fax and a detailed spec sheet from Jaguar dealer. He has owned it for 2 years and only put 7000 miles on it.
You might feel comfortable without a PPI from a Jaguar dealer since you have the recent maintenance records. But I'd have a qualified body shop do a PPI for any damage or paint repairs, even though it has a clean CarFax. You can't rely on CarFax to buy a car; it's useful only if it discloses a reason to not buy it. CarFax reports only the information that is reported to them, which isn't everything. Ask your Jaguar dealer for the name of the body shop that they recommend, as not all body shops are approved by Jaguar for repairing the aluminum chassis and body.
I dunno about getting too picky. $13k is almost throw-away money. Hell, when a new Volkswagen costs $44k, even if you park a cheap XK and just LOOK at it once in awhile, it's still a pretty good deal.

A good owner , look at the paper work to back that up
Fuel Filter? Where is the fuel filter? I thought it is integrated in the pump which is in the tank??? That seems to be a huge job!
Not on an 08 N/A. I dunno about the SC but would assume it's the same. The fuel filter is in from of the fuel tank I think just forward of the left rear wheel. #8 in the pic.

I'm with CeeJAy here. it's nice to have all the inspections, reports, tests etc, but as a seller, I wouldn't pay for it all. if you want to do that then that expense is on you. it's great to do due diligence, but to some extent, it's a used car. 11 years old. it looks good, drives good, you did your due diligence, but have to expect that a used car may have some quirks. if you were spending $250,000 on a used Ferrari, then maybe go crazy, but we're talking $13,500. heck, I bought my 07 XK sight unseen and had it shipped. i relied on records, car fax and conversation with the owner (which I happen to know).
but realistically...do whatever you're comfortable with. it sounds like you're more asking for a blessing than advice so go have fun, and enjoy it.
My only advice is to be sure that a N/A XK will still be satisfying to you in a year's time. Many owners have experienced S/C envy shortly after buying the lower HP engine cars. Perhaps test drive a S/C'ed XKR car to compare and be sure you won't long for the extra performance.
Jaguar owners are a fickle'd bunch. Some of us buy new and pay the full load knowing that the depreciation is a bitch. Then others buy used and still try to beat the price down even more. Then when we sell we advertise the car as in excellent condition and believe it demands a higher price. As we see others say low ball the owner and walk if they don't take it. So all in all we can't win and most of the time these cars sit and then are auctioned off for some low price from dealers. Then again it's just another used car.

Don't forget, once we own them, we complain about the high cost of parts and maintenance:-)

Good points.
I've already come to grips with the fact that I probably won't get much re-sale value for mine in a few years. But for once I won't be forced to sell a car due to financial concerns or other people's input.
I hope to keep my bad *** car for as long as I can .... restore it, repair it, mod it, whatever.
Even after they ban gasoline engines ... I'll an old geezer with the EPA PD in my rear view!!
