Old subject, but I want to change my grille badge..
I just bought a 2010 XK with 42,000 miles on it, Liquid Silver with Charcoal interior. It's my 6th Jaguar since 1986. The wheel caps and grille badge are black, to me a rather dull color, and I want to change to dark red I have bought 4 NOS dark red wheel caps and the grille badge, but the badge is too large. I need a 70 mm instead of an 85 mm one.
They are of course available, but all of them have a Jaguar "Growler" head unlike the wheel caps; the Jaguar's ears are back and flat against the head, which with cats means that it is scared and defensive. I want the ears to be standing up, like the Jaguar on the wheel caps.
Does anyone make such a thing? I can't find one anywhere, although my car's badge has raised ears. I've also read that the badge separates into parts, and that it's easy to paint the background. Is this true?

Too bad you didn't go for an XKR; this is 70mm and quite gorgeous. A bit older style, though.
Can't really thing of anything else. The wheel badges are too small for the front grille, unless you get a plinth like this and fabricate a surround for the badge. I haven't seen any other red badges with this growler design...
This may be of interest to you, I just did this on my 2010 and it is the identical size as the original.
This is the 70mm size of the newer style Red Growler, beware of most sellers on Amazon(all) and Ebay as they say they are 70mm but send you the more common 85mm size. The ONLY confirmed Ebay seller I found that for sure ships out the 70mm size is here:
I exchanged a lot of messages from the seller and he confirmed multiple times it was the right size and sure enough it was, I have since ordered a spare from him and it was also the correct size.
I bought a red bonnet badge about a year ago from the same seller that 10XKR did and I am completely satisfied. If you want to see a pic I will take one and post it. Just know the car is filthy right now. It should be cleaned up be this time tomorrow.
Just so everyone knows... 70mm is NOT always the correct size for our cars. My 2012 uses the 85mm size badge, so I'm guessing that 2012+ (at the very least) have the larger badge. As they saying goes, when in doubt measure twice cut once.
Also, interesting thing to note is the difference in the appearance of the growler on my 2012, vs most of the commonly available grille emblems available online:
I guess call me ghetto. I got some bright red enamel paint and colored the black inside my growler. Looks fine to me. Sure, it doesn't have the serrations on it, but nobody would notice anyway.
My 2008 is also 85mm. ‘‘Tis a puzzlement that some are smaller. Guess that explains why the dealer ordered the 70mm first and found it was WAY too small..
