Original delivery battery in my 2012 XK is...?
Reading these stickies/pinned threads on our batteries...I have netted that I need to replace my battery with a like-kind. For example, if the auto was delivered with a wet (acid-filled) battery then I need to replace with same type. Same things goes if it was delivered with AGM; I would need to replace with AGM.
Now on to the question...which battery did my car come with? Is there a sticker under the hood or in the door jamb? Another spot?

I'm not aware of anything to identify the original battery type. I'm also not aware of any North American market X150 that came from the factory with an AGM battery. AFAIK, all North American market X150s came with wet cell batteries. Maybe the XKR-S GT is an exception.
The reason for the Owner's Handbook specifying replacement with the same type battery is to conform to the alternator's charging profile, as they differ for wet cell and AGM. However, many Forum members have replaced their wet cell with AGM without any problems, particularly if they use a CTEK battery maintainer that automatically distinguishes between them and uses the proper profile.
Some national chain battery retailers will only install the specific type and size as determined by their computer, in order to limit their liability for selling an incorrect part. But they might sell you an AGM to carry out and install yourself.

Thank you Stuart S.
Seems to me that my "issues" are voltage-related (at least based on what I see anecdotally). If the AGM handles higher loads with the tradeoff being longevity, I'll take that offset.
I think at some point, I am going to need to take mine in to a dealer and have them confirm latest software and run a full diagnostic test (I am assuming they are more efficient at it than me.)

AGM Batteries are required on vehicles with Stop Start Technology. That's why Jaguar included the "replace like for like" statement. Thanks to GGG for getting to the bottom of that. If you don't have Stop Start Tech in your car, go with either AGM, or standard flooded. You'll be fine either way.

Thanks all. I just threw in a new AGM. Need to reset the BMS and then follow the startup procedure. Had this existing battery checked and it showed 14.6 volts and 1000 cranking amps per the tester. Not sure I believe that but it was after leaving it on the charger overnight and driving 45 minutes to buy the battery. Maybe I save the old one for the BMW...ha ha.

I changed to an AGM battery in August 2020. My independent specialist ran an update through the SDD software when I had the car serviced in December to ensure the correct rate of charging, and have had no issues either before the update or since. I do regularly use a CTEK conditioner as my weekly mileage is low. My thinking for changing to an AGM was that if they can manage the constant Stop/Start demands and retain a high level of charge, then my irregular use would not cause any problem if for any reason I was unable to use the CTEK for a short time. The battery supplier had a deal on at the time so the extra cost over standard wet battery was only around £25 (US$30 at the time) which over the life span of the battery is not much - interesting to see if it will last longer.

Also with my convertible, I'm in LA, and when you're at a major intersection where there's three lanes of traffic in each direction, and you're at a stoplight with the top down.... love hearing all those engines start when the light turns green...
Anyway, it's possible to disengage it on the e-pace, but you have to do it every time you start the car. I'm guessing it'd take about ten days for me to remember to do it on startup.

Can't say what came in a 2012 X150, but I replaced the battery in my 2012 X250 not long ago and purchased an AGM battery from Interstate Batteries. I don't recall any wording on the original Varta label identifying it as an AGM, but coincidentally the case on the Interstate AGM battery was absolutely identical to the case on the original Varta. I deduced that they are probably made by the same manufacturer if not in the same plant. I've been slowly switching all my cars over to AGM as the old units die. Supposedly, the AGM batteries are safer and last longer in classic cars that are stored most of the time, plus they're supposed to hold up better against our deteriorating road surfaces. I tried to buy another one from Interstate last week for the X308 but they didn't have any in stock and didn't know when they might get some due to supply chain issues. Instead I bought a Duracell. So if you check back with me in about ten years, I'll know if the AGMs were worth the extra expense or if Interstate or Duracell is better.
