P0026 Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit Range/Perf. B1
I have just bought my 2006 XKR convertible and after only 2 days the engine management light came on. The fault being P0026 Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit Range/Perf. B1
I had the solenoid replaced under the warranty but the fault came straight back?
Is this a common fault that other owners have experience

You may need to know the full 7-letter code to narrow the problem down - there are two sub-codes: -72, which means "Stuck open", and -77, which means "commanded position not achievable".
However, either code might not be down to the solenoid alone. There are 4 possible causes listed for both:
• VCT solenoid fault
• Oil contamination
• VCT oil flow fault
• VCT/Camshaft mechanical failure
So it's possible that the solenoid can't operate properly because something else is wrong. It sounds a bit like the dealer hasn't really investigated the fault properly, but has just banged a new solenoid in and assumed that, when the code didn't reoccur immediately, that the problem was solved.
Anyway, as you're under warranty, it's their problem - make 'em sort it out.
