XK has gone into my local Stratstone - Jaguar for bodywork repair under warranty. The "health check" at the last service in August noted corrosion above the RH vent which was submitted as a warranty claim and approved by Jaguar:
The dealer wanted to do the work immediately but I postponed it as I was taking the car on a 4000 mile trip across Europe in September.
It has worsened since first reported. There is no break in the paint and nothing visible on the inside of the wing so this has to be a failure in surface preparation or protection.
The work is expected to take four days and I have been given a new XE 2.0 courtesy car for the duration.
I've usually found that this type of corrosion happens when you get a pin hole in the paint. Strange to see this on a 2014 as it seems to premature. Also a funny location for the damage which may also indicate that the paint was scratched during installation of the side vent. Please post the pic's of the correction.
