Park to Reverse clunk sound
Hi, I'm new to his forum; what a wealth of information! I've got a Sep 2008 XKR convertible which I absolutely love Had it for the last month or so and I'm still finding excuses to pick up the kids myself
A couple of days ago, after a thorough clean, I reversed out of the garage. Moving the shifter from P to R, I notice a quite noticeable 'clunk' sound which I never heard before. A kind of metal-to-metal sound. When I repeated the movement (P to R) it did it again; but all seemed ok, as I drove it out of the garage. Used it the same evening as well and and the same 'clunk' was noticed when shifting from P to R. No 'clunk' when shifting from R to D or from P to D, though. This only happened on that day and it never happened to me again, either before or after that day. Dunno whether it's related, but before this happened, on the same day, I gave the car a thorough wash, including the inside rims (could water have gone over the transmission?).
Cheers!
