I'm also active on the XJ (X351) Forum. Yesterday, the owner of a 2012 XJL with the 5.0L Supercharged engine (sames as the 2010-up XKR) reported that his entire supercharger assembly was replaced under warranty, as it "was making a lot of noise chattering upon cold start". His car is nicely modded, including the exhaust (X-pipe, muffler delete, 200 cell cats) and ETG pulley + tune.
He stated: "I think running these pullies over worked the blower causing it to chatter." I think he's lucky that the dealer didn't void his warranty due to the aftermarket pulley.
Here's the thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...rranty-162396/
Anyone else have supercharger problems while running an aftermarket pulley and tune?

I'm pretty sure that you had a smaller pulley fitted to the supercharger, not a bigger one. A smaller pulley simply spins the supercharger faster at a given RPM, thereby producing more airflow and more power. A bigger supercharger pulley has the opposite effect.

yea , i think you mean the smaller pulley, as for the EML on i would say they have it tuned to high, i got mine remapped twice. First time no problem , then i decided to see could i get a bit extra. The guy added the software but the car gave the EML after a while driving so went back to the first update with no problems. Black code remapping who did mine gave me the option of a total refund after a few weeks if i wasn't happy with it, who did your remap.

All sorted undid the four screws engine cover off the vacuum pipe near the charger I followed along and one that goes in to inlet manifold was just dangling down pushed it back in to the pipe took it for a drive and the light went out after a few miles . Its now running perfect again with huge smiles per miles a well worthy upgrade .

Because the parts of an intake system and the heads are usually cast there is a rough finish on the final product. So whether it is steel or aluminium there will be some restrictions due to the finish. Usually porting does a few things like matching the mounting flanges so they are the same size and also enlarging them to increase volume. Also you grind the inside surfaces to make them smooth so the airflow is unrestricted. The net is larger area and smoother aif flow as the engine is just a big air pump. More air in mixed with more fuel is more power. This is the simple answer but if you look on the net you'll find a lot of info on it.
