Pin-Striped
I was a big fan of contrasting pin stripes on a Cutlass or Mustang in the 60s and 70s, but, because of its extremely fluid lines, the XK, especially the Coupe, might be the only car I've ever seen that I think is impossible to improve on with pin stripes, regardless of color or how professionally they're applied. At 65, the only 'wraps' I like are stuffed with chicken and lettuce!

The XK has a number of subtle sight lines down the sides. Many owners are not aware of the most subtle two. These lines add significant and defining character to the car, most particularly in the darker metalic paint shades. Automobile photographers understand this and use color and light to make the best pictures.
I'm not sure stripes would add much to a dark car and perhaps not even to the lighter shade cars. But, IMHO the lighter cars just don't "pop" because the character lines become imperceptible.
So, if pin striping is going to help (witch I doubt) it will be on the lighter shade cars. Maybe something could be worked out on Photoshop. I have seen dealer installed striping on other brand cars that didn't follow the character lines of the car and really really screwed things up.

Why would we flame you...
I had lovely contracting hand painted pinstripes on the XJR. And I think the XKR would look better for it. The problem is that my painter retired... damn him.
And the cheap stick on stripes do nothing for me.
I agree with Tarheal. There are subtle lines that could be emphasized.
Or perhaps I need two XKRs. Because I just love the graphics on Le 'mans cars.
Cheers to All!

I came across this when I was looking to wrap interior bits of my XKR Matte Black XKR Stealth
Looks awesome in those pics.
Then there is the stripe etc that you could get for the XKR75 which I think you can get as an accessory, though I wouldnt put it on mine.

Recently I came across some pictures with what appeared to be a contrasting light colored strip over the lower rocker panel with the dark letters "XKR" just in front of the rear wheels. That is the only pictures I have ever seen with any kind of stripes on the XKR. I searched for it just now over Google but, of course, can not find it.

That's the one I was talking about. You can get the stickers somewhere, I've come across them when I was looking at accessories.

good tape striping material can produce nice results.
as for striping any particular car, you generally need some type of character line to follow and enhance.
one way of achieving a subtle effect provided that there is a character line on the XK is to choose a single pinstripe in a close or complementary color. for example red stripe on cranberry paint.
for those who are unsure, it is possible to lay down a stripe for preview and peel it off as long as it is peeled off in a few minutes and it is done in the shade.
if all you can get is double pinstripe material and a single stripe is desired, just apply the two and peel off the excess one immediately after application.

The XKR 75 had a 'graphics' pack which put mascara stripes over the wheel arches:
They were removed from mine before I saw it, so I'm not sure how they looked 'in the metal'. I thought they looked rather naff in photos, and was happy to be without them, but now that there will be loads of Dynamic Rs with Vortex wheels, I'm starting to feel no-one will be able to recognise the 75 as something different without the graphics. I wish they had come up with something more subtle, like a "75" badge somewhere.
Coach striping is a little old-fashioned, sort-of like whitewall tyres - they fit an era, but I don't think they look right on more recent designs. It's fair enough if a car originally came with them, at least as an option. But stripes on a modern car falls into the same category as wire wheels - it seems to be trying to make a new design look older, and it doesn't work for me.
