Default please help identify an engine part

2013 xkr. Guys i got an oil leak from this part that is bolted to the front side of the upper engine oil sump and i have searched high and low to find out what it is? The part number rubbed off it. Also surprised to find out that there is no gasket between the lower and upper oil pan...its just bolted directly together.

I've no idea what it is as there's nothing like it on the XK that I can recall.

However, as it's fixed to the oil sump, it must surely be a level sensor, a temperature sensor, a pressure sensor, a pump, a filter or a heater.

Admittedly, it doesn't really look like any of those but what else could it be? 🤔

Looking at page 77 of this manual it looks to be something to do with the fuel cam timing?

That's definitely the part in question. It appears that it can be removed and a new gasket fitted but be very careful not to turn the engine whilst it is removed or it looks as if you will have to buy the special tool to re-fit it.

It's the oil vacuum pump which is a fairly common oil leak point on the AJ133 (and I guess the AJ126), see this recent nearby post and especially the link inside it: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...1/#post2629500

yes, your right, OzXFR... it is the oil vacuum pump and there is a rubber seal/gasket that i will replace on it after I drain and change the oil.
I will post an update in a few weeks if this solved my oil leak.

I rebuilt mine quite easily with new seals.
