Default Possible Purchase.

Hello all-had conversation with yourselves in summer re. possible purchase of 2014 dynamic r from a Jaguar dealer. It sold before I got a chance to view. I have now spotted 2011 xkr, red, 39000 miles, sports exhaust, dynamic seats. Seems the red was originally an extra-looks like IRR in the photos. Priced at £29000. Sports exhaust big plus. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

This is buyer's 101, but...get a car history report to begin the process. That will tell you a lot about the 9 years or so the car has been on the road.

Is it a dealer sale, or a private sale? I personally always feel more comfortable buying used from a PI, especially one with long-term ownership. Yes, dealers can offer repair plans and money-back guarantees, but I still like to look the owner in the face and ask the questions.

Good luck!

Welcome Brian, am gonna guess your in Northern Ireland, you may want to change that to prevent confusion in this primarily American Forum Guessed as 'Brian' (like Barry or Trevor) not a typical name outside of the UK, ceptin maybe in Oz!

I wasn't aware that the 'Super Sports Seats' (to use their correct terminology) were available as far back as 2011, but stand to be corrected.

I would personally hold out for a newer model, say this as purchased my 2014 Dynamic R over 2yrs ago for a mere £32k with 42k miles, so you are purchasing a car 4yrs older 2yrs later for £3k less? Defo the best time to buy as no one's looking at GT's in the dead of winter. Also appreciate that a certain pandemic has reduced the price of big engined cars

There are several dynamic R's for under £30k on autotrader, this one's over but the same spec/colour/interior/wheels as mine

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-det...ad=Used&page=1

I'd personally only look at a 2011 for around £20-£22k so think the main dealer is taking the urine slightly, I'd maybe pay £25 if they were going to throw in 3yrs free servicing and jaguar roadside assistance.

Thanks folks for replies. Will have a look at autotrader. Dynamic r are like hens teeth over here-yes N.I.-I will be using as daily driver & this 1 a bit older & higher mileage than I would normally look at. Just trying to get some advice from current owners, like yourselves, who know a lot more about the car than myself. All being well, I intend it to be a keeper, & I would run up 10000 miles a year. Ideally a dynamic r would be my preference. Many Thanks again.

There was a Dynamic R a few months ago being sold privately for £24k.

Appreciate that that super sports seats are 12kg lighter than standard, whilst the 24kg weight advantage is great if your not an FB (NOT Facebook) but most jaguar owners seem to be of the erm...portlier variety it won't make a difference.

But you won't get ventilated seats, but I've never had the need to cool my @rse esp in the UK climate.

What you'll will get is heated screen, seats and a reversing camera.

iMO the supersports seats are (to coin an Americanism) awesome...but go for ths red quited stitching and not the white.

Best of luck!

Agree with Mark , £29k is way to high but red is scarce . PS sure the dynamic R versions were not out till 2013

I wanted stratus grey in my coupe but only one vert was available, sadly I don't have the hair to feel the wind in anymore.. no IRR's were up for sale at that time:

I had thought that the Dynamic wasn't available until 2014?

PS: The cheapest Dynamic at the time I purchased was £43k from a main dealer, the non franchised garage I bought from thought it was a normal XKR and priced it accordingly...when they didn't give me a discount I managed to wrangle a tank of fuel and free delivery... bargain considering they were over 200 miles away. But all of these things were tax deducta le for them

No folks-this is not a dynamic but for some reason has the sports seats. Advert states £5885 extras on car-paint £1500, exhaust £1280, adaptive cruise control £1020, kalimnos 20” wheels £515, adaptive front lights £440, canvas suede cloth, piano black veneer. I notice in tech details it gives too speed of 174-if correct, makes me think it has the speed pack which is not mentioned. States car with extras in 2011 was £82865. I know you have to see the car in the flesh, but it definitely looks the part in photos. Cheers folks.

Well post up a link man...no one's gonna steal it from under you!!

Was not saying your 11 was a dynamic, just replying to George05's post that the dynamic was available in 2013.

By all means with any proposed new to you (used XK) purchase get a pre-purchase inspection form Jaguar certified shop and then have the body examined for any signs of accidents, etc.. If anything untoward pops up you can then use the results as a negotiating tool or a reason to walk away.

It looks like a great purchase. It is a 2012 MY car and the sports seats were available from then as a £3065 option.

It looks like it has the Black Speed Pack which was a £5,110 option:

I get to £11,690 extra in total for the bits you mentioned or I can see.

There are other options it may have, TPMS, reversing camera and 19" space saver.

Good man. Two things that are factors are higher mileage than I usually look at (even though it’s only 4000 odd a year), & I have just noticed it has had 5 previous owners. With the speed quoted at 174mph I also think it has the speed pack - it’s not from a Jaguar dealer & they have not mentioned this & may not be aware of it - seem to have quoted original spec possibly from previous owner.

I see Autotrader quote it as “higher price”. I certainly would be looking big drop in price. Although looks really well in that colour. Many Thanks for replies.

Is the car and yes a 2012

https://www.usedcarsni.com/2011-Jagu...e=0&sortby=6|0

Not sure I'd go for white/ivory seats but admit it's a nice contrast and lightens the interior

Main dealers do a free health-check, not sure if they do in NI or in the current pandemic situation though

My feeling is they'll have the car a while at that price, so would go in with a silly offer and see how it goes.

And remember to get the bodywork ceramic coated, it can't just be thrown on (as a motor trader/dealer would do) but requires quite a lot of prep, that way it'll stay clean for longer!

Mark , do you really believe in all that the main dealers do a check nonsense, the only good point in buying from them is the car will have some warranty

As mentioned before - it looks like Black Speed Pack. Really beautiful beast. Great exterior color and interior as well (at least on a picture, as wearing jeans is forbidden with that color of seats). But definitely beautiful car. However price does not sound like a bargain.

If there’s little movement on price, then perhaps ask for some service work to be done. All the bits they recommend but previous owners most likely put off. You’d probably want to get them done anyway & some bits are expensive.
gearbox oil pan & oil change
e diff oil change
brake fluid change
power steering flush
replace coolant
replace spark plugs. ( all the info I’ve seen on forums is 10yrs, but if you go into official Jaguar owners section it seems to have changed to 8 yrs. confirmed this year when I took it for service & dealership suggested replacing them, I think they wanted £800)

Tmich-u mention wearing jeans on those colour of seats-I think the picture of the drivers seat may be slightly marked-not know for definite until I see it myself. Many thanks again all for advice.
