Previously intermittent and now permanent ABS/DSC fault
Hello everyone,
Over the past 6 months I have intermittently experienced a sudden ABS/DSC fault during the middle of a journey in my December 2007 XK 4.2. This had occurred on roughly 5 separate occasions over the space of a few months and always cleared itself during the drive or upon starting the car again. It now comes on permanently every drive once the car reaches 20mph for the past month. I have attached an image of the only fault code for the car (ABS C0036 - Rear left tone wheel) I have switched the rear ABS sensors over to confirm if it was a sensor issue, which it was not as the fault code stayed with the left rear wheel. I even replaced the sensor on the rear left with a brand new one. The rear left ABS ring is in good condition with no swelling, cracks or damage to the cogs.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue and what was the resolution? Before I resort to have the ABS ring replaced, could it be an issue with the wiring harness that connects at the inner part of the wheel arch to the ABS sensor (C2P15480) which may explain why it was only intermittent at first and resolved itself?
