Looking at 2008 XKR convertible 38,000 Miles, excellent condition with clean carfax priced at $ 29,000.
Northeast PA. Too high?
Any comments?

Thanks

Tim

Well, that's what I paid for a 2012 model XJL with just a few miles more and a supercharger. I would think you should be able to do better. The question is what do you want and what's it worth to you?

Tim,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK/XKR forum. Members here with the same model, especially those in the US, will have the best understanding of values.

Might be a tad high, as that was the asking price on my 2007 XK conv when I bought it 3.5 years ago with 42000 miles. Your pick is a year newer, and an ‘R’.
So it comes down to ‘how much do you want the car’ vs ‘how much will they budge on the price’.

Bought my XK convertible with 23,000 miles, immaculate single owner, like-new in every respect, about a year ago and paid $25K. Mine is not an "R" so add a couple thousand for the supercharger, subtract some for the year older and higher mileage, and I'd say your price is too high. But the prices on convertibles tend to go up at this time of year. I'd say you should be looking at more around the $25K range.

It isn't bargain priced but if its the car you want maybe start negotiating.

I too think the ask is high. That’s 2010+ with the 5.0 pricing.

Price is not the first thing I consider. First, does the car have the right colors, trim, options, specs, etc? I'd never want second, third, etc best when there are so many choices available. Second what physical and cosmetic condition it is in - paintwork or body repairs, worn, faded, damaged trim, interior wear and tear, etc can both be a good indicator of how well the car was taken care of as well as additional costs to replace those items as needed which in turn affects the bottom line. And third is what is the history of the vehicle, not CarFax, but service history - not just to know how well maintained the car is, which is a good indicator of how well the owner cared for it, but services it may need in the immediate or near future, TSB updates, recalls, frequent failed components, etc that will affect the actual bottom line and cost of ownership.

If none of that matters to you, then in this case, the price is high...

I am selling my 08 XKR Green

Fantastic car, no known issues

The carfax shows 1 minor accident from the 1st owner to the side door, but it must have been repair well as I have never been able to tell what if anything damage occurred.

I listed it for 20k but I will probably go down if I have to

So in comp to my car I would say its listed too high

It's a little high; carmax cars usually are. But contrary to the rumor they spread, they DO lower prices on their cars from time to time. No, they never negotiate, but the car will be listed as "no longer for sale" for a day or two (in LA, they'll move it to another carmax); it'll come back on for $1000 less. I've seen an XK vert go down $2000 this way. If you're willing to play the waiting game, that's what I'd do. "Like" the car on Carmax and enable "price alerts" notifications. Then wait (and keep checking back anyway...)

I paid 22,900. for my '09 XK last November. one owner, 45,000miles and a clean car fax. I shopped for such a car, even to the color of the exterior and interior, for 3 years before finding it. There was no need to dicker on the price it was what I wanted. It was not like shopping for a grocery getter. I'd say if the car fits you, then buy it.

If it's a Portfolio with Alcon brakes, it's rare and commands a premium particularly if it has Adaptive Cruise Control.
