Default Proper removal of xk coupe rear cargo cover

I've owned my 2010 XK Coupe for over 7 years, and to this day, have never cleaned the rear window. Yes, my car has been detailed and is in pristine condition, but the rear window has never been touched. I've read a number of posts of trying to remove the cover with many having issues. Is there a relatively easy explanation of how to remove it safely without too much drama getting it back on? I was actually planning on having one of my friendly Jaguar techs taking it off for me during my next oil change, while I clean my window right there on the spot! Thanks all.

I'm surprised you've never had the cover drop down. I replaced the fixings twice on my 2007 XK.

Can be done alone but two pairs of hands are easier.

Update: I took my 2010 Jaguar XK Coupe to Jaguar to have my service writer (previously a tech) remove my rear luggage cover for me to avoid any issues. I wanted to finally get to clean the rear window. He was not in, and no one in the service dept wanted to remove it for fear of breaking any of the pins! Go figure that! I decided to go see the shop foreman who moved to Land Rover around the corner, when he came marching in. I asked him he he would kinldy remove the cover and as he attempted to release two of the latches........... one got stuck and would not come out. Forcing it would have broken it. He asked... your choice....I'll remove it, but if it breaks, you need to replace the part... or? I said... Stop! I managed to maneuver behind the cover and get the window cleaned. He put it back and all is well. Guess what? These plastic pieces are total crap, and are easily broken. I lucked out, and hopefully will not have to remove it again. Now I know why I was concerned about removing the stupid luggage cover! Go figure!

I cannot believe whoever details vehicles at any Jaguar Dealership doesn't remove the shelf to clean the glass! Mine comes out at least twice a year.

The retainers wear out but I've never broken one removing or refitting. Fortunately they cost a loss less than you may expect.

A bit late on this thread, but since my son just bought a coupe that doesn't HAVE a cargo cover, where the hell can he buy one? I've searched all over and found nothing.
Maybe I'm using the wrong nomenclature? Jaguar calls it a 'Luggage Cover', but that shows nothing anywhere either.

Any help?

JEPC calls it a Parcel Shelf but Jaguar Parts (US) calls it a Pkg Tray Trim.

Very much thank you.
I should get that Parts List, but I've not needed anything for MY car yet...

I've had my cover off and on several times in the short period I've owned my '07 with no issues whatsoever. The first couple times I just sort of yanked it off, not knowing the procedure! Nothing broke. I'm surprised to read of the concerns and potential problems. Decided to just leave it off. There is a slight amount of increased road noise.

car-part.com You'll have to search for a coupe hatch/ trunk lid and then call the listing yards to see if they'll sell the cover separately, but I bet you could snag a clean one for under $100 + shipping. BTW- it'll reduce rear road/wind/exhaust noise quite a bit. I've had mine out a few times and couldn't believe how much louder it was back there with it missing.
