Default question for anyone that has replaced there 5.0 waterpump

I'm in the process of replacing my cracked thermostat on my 2013 xkr. There's a rubber pipe that attaches to the top of the thermostat that im going to replace because I'm in there. It has a smaller rubber line that on it that branches off to the waterpump. I read somewhere it is a called a “bleed connector” and there is a check valve in it. I purchased an aftermarket brass connector and I'm trying to figure out how to remove the old connector and how the new ones attaches? It doesn’t look like this will be or is a very tight connection? Theres no clamp? Is there full coolant pressure going through this all the time or only when coolant is bled through it? Not really sure how this works? I haven’t removed the old plastic one yet from the pump. I'm thinking about leaving it there in case I damage it and have to replace a good waterpump. I've included a pdf diagram of the kit I bought on eBay for $10. Any help how this goes together or comments is appreciated.

Push the outter black ring in and hold it in while pulling the plastic fitting out.
It will most certainly break while pulling it out even if it is newer, now you have to use
a small alan wrench to fish the rest of the fitting out of the hole, make sure you get it all
and then put the new brass fitting and black plastic fitting in. its a PITA

don't drop the allen wrench into the engine bay like I did. might want to attach a string.

use a flat head screw driver or the like to push the ring in, while pulling the hose out.
I would apply lubricant first.
