Hi I own a 2011 Jaguar XKR and I bought it a couple months ago. Some weird thing happening. I open the driver door and the radiator fan kicks on. And if I I open the door enough times and close it with car off the car dies? Any suggestions happens whenever. Even on cold starts

There is another thread about this issue but it doesn't reach a definite conclusion:

As with any electronic issue on a modern Jaguar, I would start troubleshooting with a Jaguar SDD diagnostics session. The likely cause of this issue is a faulty sensor but randomly throwing parts at a Jaguar soon becomes a very expensive way of repair. Diagnostics should indicate why the fans are running.

Are you getting any trouble codes? Have you checked the battery voltage? Have you tried a hard reset? Does is run at max when you open the door? Does it turn off when you close the door?
From the 4.2 Manual:
"To control the cooling fan, the ECM sends a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal to the cooling fan module (integral to the ECM). The frequency of the PWM signal is used by the cooling fan module to determine the output voltage supplied to the fan motor. The ECM varies the duty cycle of the PWM signal between 0 and 100% to vary the fan speed. If the PWM signal is outside the 0 to 100% range, the cooling fan module interprets the signal as an open or short circuit and runs the fans at maximum speed to ensure the engine and gearbox do not overheat. The ECM operates the fan in response to inputs from the ECT sensor, the transmission oil temperature sensor, the A/C switch and the A/C pressure sensor. The speed of the cooling fan is also influenced by vehicle road speed. The ECM adjusts the speed of the cooling fans, to compensate for the ram effect of vehicle speed, using the Controller Area Network (CAN) road speed signal received from the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module."
You may want to download a copy of the repair manual and check out the engine cooling section, as the above info may have changed from the 4.2 to the 5.0 enigne.

Yes Indy stands for independent jaguar specialist. Was charged around £300 , was told front bumper would have to come off so stung for an hours labour for that then a diagnostic charge as well as fixing the worn wire . We're are you located ?
