For anyone interested, I've got my OEM back box and pipes from my 2010XKR sitting around someplace (have Mina performance exhaust as replacement). I'd rather have someone use it than have it sit. Also, this week I replaced my mid-resonator with an X-pipe, so I've got that as well with the attached pipes. By the way, what a big difference in sound and performance in case you're thinking about doing the same.

I like mine, sounds ferocious under hard acceleration. I put my fuse 19 back in so's I can control it, however.

Hey Kj, I know I'm a few years late. But I have an 2013 jaguar xk. It's a little too quiet for me. I'm looking for an XKR backbox right now but What other parts do you recommend to upgrade to get a much louder sound? thanks

As stated earlier in this thread, if you want more 'volume', you can replace the mid-pipe muffler with an X-pipe (easy), and if even more is wanted, you can replace the OEM 600 cell cats with something with a lower count, like 400, 200, or 100 cells (but a custom tune may be needed if you get a CEL (Check Engine Light) condition).
I'd suggest starting with the XKR backbox, and see how that suits you. Then the X-pipe if 'needed', and finally lower cell count cats.
I've found that the XKR backbox is alone is just fine for me. Any louder, and then the wife's complaints will start to drown out the exhaust. You need to pick your audible sweet spot.

Thanks for getting back to me. Haha, I understand what you mean. I think I will stick to the xkr backbox with x pipe. Is there a particular x -pipe that you recommend? If you dont mind, maybe you can send me a link to a good x pipe. Thanks

I don't have an X-pipe, so I really can't recommend one. Searching this forum I think you'll find a variety of solutions have been used, with I suspect the most common being just going to a competent muffler shop and having them either make one or use an off-the-shelf version.
Probably want to make sure they use stainless steel, so you don't get galvanic corrosion and rusting.

That's the Elite RR rear silencer, already have the Spires "Stage 1" middle section with resonator deletes and a X-pipe.

hey 8 bit.. it has obviously been a while, but I recently bought a 5.0 xk, do you think I will get the same sound out of it if I completely copied your setup?

Not exactly no - XKs sound a bit different due to being naturally aspirated, different compression ratio etc compared to an XKR. I've always preferred the XK sound, just preferred XKR performance more. Your XK will only have one center silencer whereas the R has two as standard, personally I would start with just upgrading the rear silencer and see where that leaves you.

Thank you very much with the reply!!
I was really astonished to hear how ur xkr sounded, so deep and rich with tune. Anyway, by upgrading you meant the elite back box? I saw their back box on the website but there was a rr behind the name, are they the same model?

No problem. Bear in mind also, that car was a 4.2 XKR, your 5.0 has a different engine, think different firing order too. I don't think you'll be disappointed though.

Yes their exhaust seems to be known as the Elite RR exhaust, not sure why. You'll need to replace the valance trim piece that sits in between your existing exhaust tips as the Elite back box comes with quad outlets, as an XKR would have, so you'll have to factor that in too. I don't think they're expensive though.

Happy Holidays all

Jumping in to ask if anyone has removed the XK rear silencer and gone with straight pipes.

A local muffler shop previously said a couple hundred bucks to add stainless pipes and use the existing tips.

I prefer that rather than $600 or so for the Adamesh Stage 1, but I'm concerned about the amount of noise and any potential droning at speed.

You Tube has too many videos that make my head spin.

I have and it drones badly. It makes way too much noise at normal driving speeds in D. Ive tried DS but the wear and tear that comes from aggressive downshifts is not worth it. Best thing to do is remove the center and add an xpipe along with an XKR rear box. Zero drone, and lots of go that matches the exhaust bark. Ive been through several mods, and as much as I like a nice exhaust note that tells me what gear Im in, the last thing I want is an obnoxious exhaust that makes passengers want to get an Uber. So dont go that route. The key is to control the noise at the very end of the exhaust system.

Thanks Brew
I thought about going the XKR box route, but the parts guru at Renaissance Motors here in Sarasota told me one (if he could find one) would be more than double the price of the Adamesh Stage 1 system.

But I just jumped on Ebay and found a couple of reasonably priced XKR exhausts, so all may not be lost.

Happy New Year

I put on an XKR muffler "backbox" on my 07 XK 4.2 NA about 3 years ago and I love it.

Yeah, think I did it about 7 years ago, and no regrets, just love that rumble.
