Default Rear light problem

Hi all,
I have an issue with the rear right light cluster. The left cluster is fine.
The dash warning is telling me that both the indicator and the brake light have failed.
I've taken the stop/tail bulb out and replaced it (twice) with brand new Osram (not a cheap brand) bulbs and whilst the "tail" function of the same bulb is working, the "stop/brake" second circuit is not.
I've had the connector apart to see if it opening it up and putting it back together remakes a bad contact but still no joy.
I'm assuming it's some sort of earth problem but can't seem to find an earth stud close to it?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hmm, tail lamp brake lamp and plate lamp share the same ground post but yes the ground post is in the boot and you'll have to remove the interior luggage compartment side cover to access it IIRC
