Default Rear windows don't go up all the way when top is closed

2008 XKR. I'm buying it and this is that the owner said. Any of you familiar with this and know if it is a common\easy issue to fix?

Before anyone else comments, "if it's easy to fix why isn't he fixing it", the owner told me that he has health issues and has to sell it, and is selling with the two known issues at a lower cost because he doesn't have the money to fix it himself.

I'm asking because I'm driving it home 500 miles and wanted to see, since i don't know exactly what the issue is, if someone else may have encountered it so i know what to expect.

So if it's common and easy to fix ask him to do it or pay for it. It may be an electrical issue or a mechanical issue but my bet is somewhere between $300 to $1000 to fix.

Okkkaaayyyyyy....... I see the first post is Edited, so I may only see what's left behind. BUT, I don't see where the seller of said vehicle stated anything about an "Easy Fix". So do I assume that part of post #1 was edited out, or that the following posts went on presumptive thoughts of what MAY have been said?
Guess I'll keep out of it for now, and I'll also check about window fixes. Course, it MAY only need a Window and Top reset to get 'em working again. Not enough info = not an easy target to hit.

lol yes, I did have to edit it because I didn't say the owner said it was an easy fix. He said that the back windows don't go up all the way when the top is open. I asked if it was an easy fix. I'm waiting on him to see if he has anything from the mechanic that says what the problem is, but I've not heard anything yet.

The back windows are not supposed to go up when the top is down. You can buy the top mod . which gives you this option.

Oh, hmm, I wonder if he thought they were then. Or maybe he was trying to tell me they didn't go up all the way when the top was closed. We've been talking through text which can be vague, but he's going to call me so we can talk sometime later tonight and I'll confirm. Thanks!

^^^^^^
Correct! But ... when the top is up, you can raise and lower both rear quarter windows by using the convertible top switch in the overhead console. Tap the rear of the switch to open; press and hold the front of the switch to partially or fully close.

From the Owner's Handbook:

This might explain the problem with the car that the OP is considering. Press and hold the front of that switch until the rear quarter windows fully close.

P.S. If this works, let me know where to send my invoice!

Hi. I have 2006 xk conv and a 2006 range rover. Both have same ecu and if battery goes flat all sort of things happen including windows not going back up. As a mater of course i have a reader and every month delete all faults which cures virtually everything. I have also fitted a trickle charger to xk and the park brake and vehicle lock must be operated when car is left for more than a week or Battery goe flat as this shuts all the seperate computers down. Anybody running an xk or thinking of buying one should buy or rent a reader and check it over regularly.
