Default Remanufactured rims

What's your opinion of remanufactured rims?

I'm still contemplating putting different rims on the XK that I have on order, and getting them from one of the vendors on e-bay would be half the cost of buying them new through Nalley Jaguar.

What is a remanufactured wheel?

Do you mean aftermarket wheels?

Ice - sometimes wheel businesses take OEM (and other aftermarket) damaged or worn wheels and straighten, repiant, rechrome, whatever to bring them back to like-new condition.

They are used wheels that have been restored.

I honestly know very little about cars, but it seems to me that when it comes to wheels, they need to be straight and they need to be in clean, pristine, etc. Other than that, what would be the the difference between a new OEM wheel and a used OEM wheel?

Yes, I understand refurbished/restored wheels.
The term remanufactured didn't bring the concept to mind for some reason.

I don't have any experience buying restored wheels but there are 2 companies in south Florida I would trust to do it.

Wait, I take that back. I did have some stock wheels chromed out back in 1993. Turned out well.

So it all depends on who does the work. I've known others who have bad experiences cause they tried to use the cheapest and/or quickest company.

I bought reconditioned wheels from a big company off Ebay. The wheels look great but I had to swap wheels with them several times to get two that were not badly bent or out of round. Even the two I kept are not perfectly round.

I am not really happy because I wanted to get rid of all of the vibration in my XJR and I only got rid of 95% by replacing the two bent wheels and getting a Road Force Balance.

I am looking for some affordable after market wheels now so I can get some new wheels that are not bent! I wish I had done that in the beginning.

Thank you for your input. The company who has the wheels that I want is called All Factory Wheels. They're in Freeport , NY. If this is the same company that you used, then I'll just get the wheels from Nalley.

I get accused often of being too negative on forums so I have learned to keep my mouth shut most of the time but I'm going to try being straight-forward here and hope it doesn't come off too hard.

I just wanted to suggest that maybe being too concerned about cost may not be first priority. I know I don't know your situation but I do know you drive a 100K car. Even if you got it used it is a 100K car and should be treated as such.
With that in mind my suggestion would be to get nice wheels that are befitting a 100K car.
I'm gonna stop here instead of trying to justify my opinion because I really do believe people should do as they please with their stuff. I just wanted to get it out there...as a suggestion.

It is possible to get wheels straightened at a local wheel shop.

It is an extra expense, but if you find wheels at a bargain price this is a way of getting them to true round (or anything else that needs attention) without braking the bank or swapping wheels.

Ice, there is a huge difference between being cheap and being smart. Most of us who have amassed wealth, have done so by being smart, not by being cheap. I'm on this forum to become more informed and educate myself. I do that by asking questions. I have said many times that I know almost nothing about cars. I know what looks good to my eye, and I know what feels good to my body, but I don't know anything about what actually make cars do what they do. I've never bought rims for a car before. Anytime I buy any product, I choose the product, and then find the best vendor to buy the product from. If there is a product I want, and I have a choice between two vendors who are selling the exact same product, and one vendor is selling it for more than 50% less than the other vendor, then I'm going to buy it from that vendor. Again, that's not being cheap. That's being smart. In regards to the OEM wheels that I'm going to purchase, my question here was simply to find out if my choice of vendors are actually selling the exact same product.

I was just throwing something out there.
I shouldn't be suggesting spending behavior to rich people.
I was doing well at one point but poor investment choices and buying cars with expensive wheels have left me starting over again. Hey, that's life.
I still love cars and will get a set of expensive wheels when I save enough to get an XKR. It's the only vice I have.
I'm sure you're wise enough to make your own decisions without suggestions from people.
Good luck.
