Are they held in place with rivets? If so you need to drill out the rivets. Offering my $0.02

I can help here, on my 2007 car I had to drill out the rivets (the metal circles you're referring to). Be warned once it comes off, you have around four holes in the bumper.
If you plan to have no plate on the front, then you'll need a body shop to fill holes and paint the bumper.
In the UK here, it the law to have a plate. I didnt like the plate holder and simply stuck the plate directly on to the bumper covering the holes. Looks much nicer.

how the hell do i drill it out if there is nothing for the drill to latch on to (like a regular screw)

Use a relatively small drill bit, and drill in the centre of the rivet. Eventually the 'metal circle' will come away revealing the shaft of the rivet. Do this to all of them and just push the shaft through the bumper (it will drop to the floor).

If you're not confident doing this, then maybe a good idea to let the body shop do the whole job. Its going to end up there anyway.

Since you are going to need to paint it and fill in the holes, have the body shop do the whole thing...

You can always go with bumper plugs vs getting the bumper refinished. That's what I did, and while not as nice as refinishing it, it's still better than the alternative.

i was thinking about getting it repainted anyways there are paint chips from rocks on it and they are really noticeable with black. just hoping it wont cost too much

The front of the XK without a plate looks so wicked, I would paint the whole bumper and patch the holes. Make sure the body shop pulls the bumper cover off to paint it. You want it done right. $500 at a good body shop is my guess.

What color is your car? Since you bumper is being painted, might as well add the RS style wing!

XKR Rear Spoiler Upgrade

Welcome to the forums JK_XKR. I am very envious of your XKR!

But Christ on a crutch! There are not many Jaguars in the US, and there are even fewer owners on the boards. Often you have to wait a day or so to get an answer! Patience is a virtue!

It's all good, man. It's great to have another enthusiastic owner willing to muck around with the car on here. But things do move a little more slowly... well, a LOT more slowly. Chevy pumped out more Camaros last year alone than what Jag has produced of the current gen XK since 07.

Any body here use these to fill the holes left behind by the front license plate holder?

Not a perfect solution, but if they come in the matching color, they are better than nothing.
