Im lucky enough to own a xk-07, hardtop. I dont use it during winter and storage it in a slightly modified barn, which has lead to led issues.
The winter has been very warm this year which means lots of mice, I never imagined they would be able to get into a modern car... until they did! They have crapped in the trunk and chewed up an old umbrella which is an easy fix, but they have also gnawed on the centre armrest, see attached pictures. Real gult. I found a company that can take a swing at fixing it, but first I need to remove it. I have no idea how, the hinges are obscured and theres leather on the back of it so I cant get at it from there.
Has anybody here removed the armrest on an XK post 2007?
Sorry to see the damage. The XK 4.2 Workshop Manual doesn't even mention the Centre Console Armrest/Lid and the 5.0 XK Workshop Manual has no detail on removal.
That suggests it's no more complicated than removing the two M5 panhead fixing screws shown in purple.
I know its an old thread, but I did this exact job in just a few minutes yesterday. Off the top of my head, here are the instructions:
1 - Remove trim around shifter assembly (pry up gently with plastic trim tools to pop clips off) to access torx bolts for trim panels along side of center console. Gently pull off the side panels.
2 - Remove screws on either side holding in center console storage bin cover (this is where the emergency key slot is kept) as this covers the main armrest torx bolts
3 - Unscrew two main armrest torx bolts
4 - Reinstallation is reverse of removal
