Default Replace Bluetooth module

In my XK (X150) from 2006 is an old Bluetooth module 6W83-10D893-AF which cannot pair with modern phones. What will be the newest Bluetooth module available? And, will it work in my older XK VIN B09813?

I installed 9W83-10D893-AA (2009). I know 9W83-10D893-AA is just plug and play and am using it with my Galaxy S9 plus without issue.
I get full directory, last !0 calls (Made, Received), Battery power all displayed.

I can't speak to the newer ones. This is a summary from Cambo:

To B07046: C2P11342 (6W83-10D893-AE)

B07047 to B15111: C2P12058 (6W83-10D893-AF)

B15112 to B27986: C2P14821 (6W83-10D893-AG)

B27987 to B32752: C2P17620 (9W83-10D893-AA) 2009?

B32753 to B36862: C2P20239 (9W83-10D893-AB) 2010 - 2012

B49386 (2013 xk) onward: ??????? (9W83-10F845-AA)

latest?: 9W83-10F845-AA

Based on Sean/Cambo's list, the bluetooth module in my old 07 XKR would have been the same one as yours and in the 5 years that I owned it I never had problems pairing with any of my iPhones.

I currently have an iPhone 8 Plus and had it for a few months before I sold the car so your module should be capable of pairing with 'modern phones', well iPhones anyway.

So do we know if it's possible to update a module with firmware with a significantly different part number (e.g. 9W83-10D893-AB to 9W83-10F845-AA) or does the change in the middle or first sections of these numbers mean the hardware was changed too?

That's odd - I installed a 9w83 module on my old 2008 XKR and I got phone book on a few different Android devices that didn't work with the car before.

I Bought a 6W83-10D893-AG today and it works.
I can "dock" my Samsung S9+ phone,
I can make phonecalls. However, I can hear the other party, but they can't hear me.
I don't think it is the bluetooth module, it must be somewhare in the audio module I guess.
ANd, synchronizing contacts does not work.

Problem solved. Replaced microphone. Now the only problem left is synchronization of contacts. The names are completely garbled.

I had the garbled contacts thing when I did the same thing you did on my old 2008 XKR, same problem with at least two different Android devices, but my wife's iPhone worked fine. Never solved the issue but I think it's related to the infotainment system rather than the Bluetooth module - I now have a 5.0 XKR with the same part number of Bluetooth module that I put in my old 4.2 and the names work fine, even with one of the same phones I had that problem with on the old car.

Just because you can't get your phone to pair and dock with your car doesn't necessarily mean that you need a new Bluetooth module. You might not be doing the setup properly. Yesterday my phone didn't connect and I had a hard time getting it to pair and dock again. I think the last Verizon system update messed it up.

My Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8 now works again with my 2009 XKR. For details how to pair and dock it, see my Post #69 in this thread, which is a Sticky at the top of page 1 of this Forum.

I found that pairing the phone in convenience mode with engine off works every time for me. I had trouble trying to pair with the engine on. I can’t find anything that says it’s designed that way...

It was too hot here yesterday without the AC. That's why the engine was running.

Angry Replaced Bluetooth Module

This is the 3rd Bluetooth Module I have purchased and still no luck, My original Module will work for a day after disconnecting the battery. The last one was out of a 2012 XKR
9W83 -10F845 - AA, will not search for a connection. Anyone with any suggestions will be greatly appreciated before I'm forced to replace the unit and go to a Carplay.
