Thanks.
So... many... options now. I did know about the status bar at the bottom... before the install I figured out how to get rid of it, but sort of don't mind it.
I also do know about different themes in Torque. I don't mind the default one, but maybe some Jaguar-Themed background will make it look more cohesive and OEM.
Prior to my doing this, I didn't realize that the GVIF was merely a video switch and not some magical doo-dad.
Before I remembered this Android Box thing, I contemplated using a Bluetooth Phone Mirroring setup, but THIS way is much more convenient. Too bad the TSD isn't a lot higher resolution. Oh well.
I get my finishing parts on Friday, so I can get stuff situated, mounted (somewhere) and rattle-free.
Thanks again for the assistance.
Hey! I just had an idea......
Get an infrared or night vision camera in the front of the car...... hook it up to a video input and BOOM. Stealth Mode!

Yep, on my bucket list. I ran an extra video cable from the trunk to behind the center stack, so I could extend it to a front camera and connect to an unused input on the GVIF.
No more scraping the splitter when pulling into a parking stall (where you can't see the curb ahead of you).
whoops, I only addressed audio input earlier. I think you figured out audio out is as easy as using the BT in the media box to a Tune2Air on your car's audio cable. Then you can get real crazy, tether it to your phone, stream netflix while you drive because can. Of course, we'll be sure to add "nice knowing you" to your headstone.
I'm not a fan of the mirroring but would be of "reverse" mirroring, where we can view AND control the phone from the touchscreen. I'm working on that with the developer and the ball's in my court, but no eta.
So to Ken's question, did you have to swap the wires?
Also, the front video reference. I know a few guys want this for parking. It would certainly work easy enough with GVIF, but I always assumed the lens would be too dirty to be of much value, wouldn't it?
Cee Jay - To follow up on an earlier post you made... Did you have to swap the 'new colored' wires on the GVIF connector?
Yes. Yes I did. I tried it as-is first, but just got pink noise.
It was super easy to swap the pins. Pry a tiny piece of plastic away from the connector and pull the wire/pin out the back.
There IS a different picture in a CAMP2 thread that shows swapping side-to-side, but that is NOT right.
Pull out one pin, then the next, then insert the second pin into the first spot. Then first pin into second slot.

Since I’ve got my license plate mounted on a post that sticks out from the tow hook (I know, some think its wonky to have a off center plate), I plan to mount the camera behind the plate, so it’s shielded from road spray, yet still give me a view of the curb.
Nice work. The box I use powers on @ plug in so I don't need the remote. The cheap boxes don't have on/ off switches. There are some high end ones that don't either but it really depends on how many USB ports you want. BTW, not 100% certain it applies to all boxes, but I think there's a setting that hides the status bar on the bottom after a few seconds, then appears again with the move of a mouse.
Yep, that's what I did, get a box that boots on power. I also use a launcher so Torque Real-time Info shows first thing. Start the car; go into Nav; push a button and There's Torque and all my cute little gauges, graphs and charts.

That background is the default Torque, sort of looks like the moon, but isn't. I already got some wallpapers into torque, but don't know if I'm happy with any of them. So far this one's my pick:
The gauges themselves? "Dial (Meter)"
The color theme is whatever the default one is, don't know if it has a name.
There are like 42 available themes, each with original dials and meters and such. I haven't checked any out though, just the default ones.
Here's a screenshot from my phone, shows some available. Five pages this big of options.
I wanted all the ports on that media box, the OTG, the memory card (music storage) and wanted to add a sound input for voice command and really wasn't sure what else at the time, GPS I think. Here's the sound card converter:
Oh, joy......
I got all my shyte together and everything is great............
EXCEPT that my Grandson visited for several days in a row, then went home a couple days ago....... and now I don't have the remote controller for my TV box.
Anywhere.
Jax (3-1/2) is a lover of trinkets such as old worthless cell phones, extra keys, and, recently, remotes. He always asks if he can have/use/play with them and he's usually pretty good about it.
Well, he's home, about a 130 mile round trip away, and he probably thought MY remote was one of his many remotes and brought it home with him.
SO, I'm stuck with what I have on my screen unless I get a USB mouse and pull all the panels back off and connect it to the box.
Plus, evidently my Jaguar background in Torque didn't hold as it is back to the default one. All my gauges are there, so WTH.

Hmmm... Weren't you blaming the grandson for a missing key fob for your car, some time ago?
And didn't that key fob show up, some time later?
Anyway, the remote fails to communicate through the rear seat/stuff, evidently it's IR and not RF. I hooked up a wireless mouse and that works fine.
Since 'small screen', I went to three larger gauges and got rid of some less useful ones. They are still 'there', but on a different screen.
I like my new background now too;
Alerts are set up to Flash the Gauge when my Limits are reached, so "idiot lights'.
