I was wondering if anyone has replaced the interior trim panels on their XK/XKR?
I have light walnut trim at the moment, but was thinking of a change to piano black or carbon fibre, I don't really want to wrap the trim as I prefer to have what I call "real" trim parts rather than stick on replacements.
Can you recommend any place to buy trim parts?
Assuming you've got a X150 (your signature line doesn't state what car you have) The two main options were dark walnut or lighter burl wood. there was also an aluminum look (part of the aluminum tech package option) and possibly piano black I believe. I just wrapped mine in piano black to see what i would look like and am pretty happy with it, was going to go with "brushed black metallic" but found it had tiny red and blue specs in it which I thought detracted from the look. May give brushed steel a try but I do not believe there are any other choices for a factory or aftermarket option. To get actual replacement pieces won't be cheap even used...
I also might give this a try, looks pretty interesting black wood vinyl
I have Piano Black in my 2010 XKR, and I'm not crazy about it for one reason:
No matter how often I wipe it down, within a few minutes it will have dust all over it that shows up very prominently. On a woodgrain or even carbon fibre trim it would not be visible. I kind of find the black woodgrain in Leeper's post intriguing, maybe even finding something like it in a smaller, more closed grained pattern. https://www.google.com/search?q=blac...0AcgZ8D9N5M%3A
AFter second look I agree with you tberg. That pic that I attached was one of a Lexus actual wood not of the vinyl wrap.. if it were the wrap I'd be all over it the actual wrap doesn't have near the richness desired.

My XKR-S has the piano black for the center stack area and door window switch panels and an aluminum-like veneer on the passenger side airbag panel as well as around the steering wheel.
The piano black trim for the center stack should be easy to find as I think most (if not all) of the later cars had this. As you can see, the aluminum trim has the R-S logo, but I believe this was available in XKRs without the logo.
I would try Terry's jaguar parts- they have a large selection of hard to find parts at pretty good prices usually.
And I agree with tberg... The piano black is hard to keep clean, and it also shows scratches very easily, so I only clean it with microfibers.
Matthew,
Mine (2010XKR) also has that aluminum/faux carbon fibre trim on the airbag and steering wheel surrounds. It's just kind of there, doesn't move me one way or the other. I could envision something like what Leeper suggested, black, modern looking woodgrain that would be contemporary yet rich looking.
Wasn't there a grey birdseye maple available on the X100 Silverstone edition?

Yes, I would agree with you tberg. I don't love it or hate it either. I think a matte black open-pore veneer with a straight grain would look very nice.
In my 2006 Victory Edition XKR, I have the full, glossy carbon fiber dash. In certain lights, it looks absolutely gorgeous. CF is much better in person than in photos I think- it has a lot of depth to it that you can't see online. So that's another option, but that may be pricey aftermarket.
And yes, there was a grey Birdseye maple offered for the Silverstone. My friend has one, and while I like it, his set has a yellow hue to it that I'm not crazy about. I prefer darker woods in general, but that's just me.
If you want some custom veneer done, call either Madera Concepts or British Auto Wood. Just an FYI, though, redoing all of the veneer can be pricey. I looked at having it done for my old XK8, and it was about $1,500.
Am looking for a wood trim XK150 (facelift) 2010 and up interior
Dear Simon, and other readers, I currently have the OEM aluminium look interior trim with the piano black gear lever surrounding but am looking to replace it with a wood trim.
anyone aware of where I could find one?

many thanks!
ps. Does it help to tell the car is great at giving big smiles? About to go for a German road trip weekend next week

Hello Dag82 I think the reason why direct messaging does not work yet is because it takes three days and a few posts to make sure I am not a spammer/bot.
please find a few pictures of the interior and the trim

As an alternative, you might want to consider this aftermarket vinyl overlay kit that Is available in a wide variety of faux wood grains and colors. https://www.rvinyl.com/Dash-Kits-Jaguar-XK-2010
Many thanks Stuart, I had not seen that one yet and it’s rather complete with the door parts too. Looks like the varnish could have a bit of tlc/redo but that should not be too hard.
The wrap could also be nice but feel like the real thing ages better. Do you have experience with that?

I did a little research on that Rdash product and found that it's available on Amazon. After reading the negative reviews, I wouldn't buy it. Just go to Amazon, search for "Rdash", and read the negative reviews. You can't trust the positive reviews. To read the reviews, click on the item to open it and then click on the 5 stars in the top right corner. There are no Jaguar items but you'll get the point from the other makes.
OEM wood trim is excellent quality and is still like new in my 4.2L 2009 XKR Portfolio convertible. The color is Rich Oak, which was unique to the North American market 2009 XKR Portfolio models and became a standard choice with the 5.0L 2010 models. My car has always been garaged. Interior mods include a custom //R footrest, paddle shift extensions, backup cam in the ashtray, and an //R logo on the passenger side wood dash. Photo taken 4/11/23.
Cool Graham, that looks nice with the grey dashboard. Did you change from aluminium to wood or vice versa?
I have the impression that the one posted on eBay was darkened (in a fire ‘quote’ Ceejay) and could be looking less distressed with a new clear veneer

Beautiful set up Stuart, and indeed don’t see this type of wood often.
I think I prefer holding out for a OEM trim vs a wrap given comments and reviews indeed.
Am tempted to give the EBay set you shared some tlc and see how it looks.

Thank you so much for this pro tip Stuart!
After some consultation I decided to try this bold wood look and it came better than expected. Have it fitted since yesterday and pictures don’t do it justice. It was the highlight in my past weeks.
See before and after pic. If anyone is interested in the black/aluminium trim I would be willing to help sending mine.
