Default Replacing black growler wheel center caps with red caps?

I know this is totally subjective...and has been discussed before, but how do you guys feel about replacing the standard black growler center caps with red ones? I am leaving the front black center grill emblem original as I don't want to paint it or replace it. I just wanted to spice the car up a bit for a minimum cost. . My car is Silver with black interior. What do you guys think? Would it be at all noticeable?

I replaced my black center caps with red ones and very much like the change... Definitely gives the wheels a little more pop, I think... I will say this picture doesn't really do them justice...

First thing I did was replace the center caps with red. I just like it beter. Grill emblem is still black.

I will say this tho. The caps on ebay are trash. I'm on my second set. First set faded terribly in about 2 years. Second set didn't fit right (too small). I got a refund so I got them to fit tight by adding some electrical tape on the tabs. Now the center caps are loose so I had to glue them on. Next set I'll get from a dealer.

When ordering from the dealer, what do I ask for? Center caps for a 2010 XKR even though I have an XK? Are they exactly the same other than the color?

There are a couple of different sizes. Tell them your wheel model and size (19",20") they should be able to figure it out. Better yet, take the car to the dealer so you can take off the old one and size it up.

That's the best idea! I have 19s. Thanks....I'll call first to see that they have them in stock. I'm not going for the aftermarket and then have issues with fitment.

Called Jaguar parts....$31.65 each plus tax. Small price for a small pop. I'll bring my car in. I was told to be careful taking off the old ones as not to break the taps. I'll let my service writer do it. Thanks all.

My XK came with the red center caps described in earlier posts, but they didn't really match well with my Radiance Red.
I found these 'old school' caps on Ebay, and they match much better, and fitment was just fine.
Would they 'pop' as well as the previous reds against your silver, I don't know.

I went with the red also but only because it matches the calipers. I got those cheap metal jaguar red valve caps too from eBay.

Clearly it's up to you, but I think the red only belongs on the XKRs. Just my opinion. I do really like the Jaguar Diamond Heritage logo ones, though.

Red face

I've got a set of ruby growlers, a set of red ones, another set of black "Jaguar", and a set of leapers. When I get bored, I swap them.

The 2008 and 2009 XKR Portfolio models came from the factory with Jaguar Heritage center caps (black for 2008 and red for 2009). Here's my 2009, with 20" Selena wheel, the 6-piston Alcon caliper and 400mm crescent-grooved rotor:

I have a few extra 2009 sets, PM me if you're interested.

Thanks very much Stewart for the offer. I happen to be partial to the growler caps.

Originally my 13XKR Rhodium Silver came with black growler caps and grill badge. The original grill badge got broken somehow so I changed over to red all around. I would include pics but the car is filthy now because we were out in the rain earlier today. But, that's ok too because we really needed the rain. Oh, and I like the look of the Red against the Rhodium Silver.

I run red ones with the summer and black on winter wheels. But my car is white so I think it compliments either way.

The parts guy said the replacement cap consists of a red growler with a grey background. Does that sound right?

This is a genuine Jaguar cap:

1. The black lip of the backing is visible around the circumference
2. the JAGUAR script is in the same colour black inset in a chrome ring and the letters are slightly recessed
3. the Jaguar head is also chrome and is raised - on cheap copies it is often flat

My XK has red caps as original specification and match the grille badge.

Graham

If money is no object or in this case relative Bocatrip, consider buying a cheap set off eBay. You can just wrap the tab once with electrical tape and they'll stay in place. Then if you like them, spend the $130 or so for a set of OEM.

Show us a pic of your wheels too if you don't mind. My XK is black and I have yellow caliper covers on. The wheels are silver so yellow center caps just wash out. I had some other wheels that were painted charcoal and the yellow caps would have looked great but I got tired of the wheels and went back to my OEM. My center caps are black
