Replacing portable audio interface on X150 convertible
Has anyone replaced the portable audio interface box (Item 4 in the Service Manual diagram I attached — Harman Becker AUU USB-MOST / BE 7302 / C2P19345 / 8X23-14D212-AA) It is in the right rear fender on an XK Convertible, same as a Coupe, I assume. As far as I can tell it is completely hidden behind the convertible top hydraulics. But since I can’t see it I am not sure if I should be disassembling there and I find it generally intimidating to mess around in that area without knowing what I am getting into. Anyone have any insight?
There's no distinction in the service manual regarding the location in coupe vs vert• An auxiliary USB unit, attached to the RH rear quarter panel, behind the trim of the luggage compartment.
So it is where you think it is.
My problem is I am completely unable to see it in that compartment. It MAY be hiding behind the hydraulics but I MAY be completely mistaken where to look. I agree there is nothing in the service manual suggesting it is not where the drawing shows it. If anyone had a photo of where it is — in a coupe or convertible — that would help me tremendously.
Sorry, I don't have a vert or I'd be more help but yes, it's behind the carpet sidewall right in front of the tail light - if from outside the car it would be just forward of where the tail light wraps around and comes to a point. I did a retrofit because it wasn't an option on the 07. I've since removed it and it's sitting on my workbench as I've moved over to the CarPlay set up. Sorry can't be of more help.
Thanks for that great detail. If you have a known working part I could buy it from you … that would be very helpful. Mine appears to have crapped out, and that is why I am into this project. PM if you want to discuss.
Strange location, I've got mine fitted in the MOST stack in the boot as that's where all of the MOST gear is and it's a simple run for the harness into the cabin and through the console to the armrest.
Yes when I did my retro fit, I put it on the trunk stack too. @twhumphrey , check the trunk stack first. Both the 09 and the 2010 onward manuals show it against the side panel but it makes no sense to be there. FWIW it's showing that it's where the 07 antenna is placed.
The USB interface box is in fact hiding behind the top hydraulics. I spotted it by moving some insulation out of the way and got some photos for reference. The access port in the trunk, RH side. The USB interface hiding in back.
