Replacing the Rear differential

Replacing the Rear differential
Had a nice freebie winter check done by my local Jag dealership which was nice until they kindly informed me that I have a slight N/S rear diff leak
They said to monitor it for a little while, but just wonder if anyone has had their rear diff replaced and rough cost? May also wrap replacing the rear bushes at the same time, as I'm obviously going to have to sell a kidney to cover the cost.
Also with the age of the car, would you recommend replacing the sump at the same time?
Thanks.

It can be. The entire diff is rebuildable/re-sealable. Any driveshaft/diff/manual trans shop can do the work. The remove and replace is the expensive part which my thread shows you how to do. Depends on the DIY level.

I’m not sure how old yours its but there is a batch of bad Jagdiffs around 2008/9 model years. Anyway, I had the same issue and initially hadthe drive shaft seal replaced which lasted only a month (120GBP) before leakingagain. I then had the whole diff replaced with a 2nd hand unit at ajag specialist for about 600GBP which has been fine for the last 2 years.
Sonot too horrific.

I believe there is some interchangeability with other Jaguar models as well.
Cambo would be a good resource for that.
If you have a high mileage vehicle and don't want to invest too much, I'm guessing you can pick up a low mileage used one on the cheap.
As Flyc2c points out, you don't need a Jag Dealer for this kind of work so either rebuild or replace can be done for less at a trans shop.
