Hello,
To the best of my knowledge 2007 was the only year you could get the wood and leather steering wheel.
I would like to retrofit it to my 2008. I have talked to an ebay seller that has one for sale (from an '07 but the wrong color leather)...he said his books say it will fit, no problem.
I have talked to a dealer and they don't want to touch this one.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks...Mark

I have not done this on the XK (but I have done exactly this on 2 X-Types) - it should be completely straightforward - the cruise and audio packs simply get transferred to the new wheel - There shouldn't be any alterations as far as I know (the 07 and 08 cars are essentially identical).
The leather can be redyed with no problem at all (before the wheel goes on). I can tell you where to get the dye if you decide to do this. Did the dealer tell you why they do not want to do this? After all, removing the wheel is a "normal" procedure and it is in the service manual.
My car has the (heated) wood/leather wheel - very nice indeed.

Thanks for your feedback...I was pretty sure it could be done with no issues. I would like to locate a new one, rather than a used one. It would make the car feel 'fresh' to put in a new one. Now all I have to do is locate one...hopefully you can still get them. The search is on...thanks again, Mark
