Default road or tire noise

I am looking at several '13 XK coupes with 25k on them. I was surprised by the road or tire noise each had. Is this normal? I had an XKE coupe as my first Jag years ago and do not remember such noise nor on a Datsun 280Z. My '99 XK8 with 172k on it is quieter but it is a convertible.
Please let me have your insight,
Thanks!

Just need a little more info like rim size , 19" or 20" , and what are the tire sizes and what brand and model tire. Also how many miles on the tires. Some tires ride harder then others and if you have the run flats they are very hard. So tread designs sing more then others and give you more road noise. So if you have the info please share it.

As JagToes said "if they are run-flats they will be hard" and loud too... pitch those nasty things ASAP. Without knowing a lot more info (tire make/model, date of mfg which is on the side of the tire. tire pressures, is the alignment accurate, etc) no way for us to provide any sort of accurate answer what the problem might be but XK's are not inherently loud by any means... mine is a conv and quite quiet with maybe 6K on them right now

You may hear a few people hear talk about their loudness experiences and how they remedied it but it always comes down to a simple formula - new tires are not as loud as old tires regardless of make/model.

An under-inflated tire can cause excess noise, at least more than that type tire at the recommended pressure. There is a vast difference in tires and the noises they produce.

Not only may the tires be a problem but road surfaces as well. I own a new 2015 Corvette C7 that had Michelin run-flat tires. I scrapped the run-flats, sold them to another Corvette owner and replaced them with 19" & 20" Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 tires and it made a difference in the amount of sound in the cabin.

I also installed "Fat Mat..Rattle Trap Extreme" in the rear cargo area and bulkhead in back of the seats which made a real difference.

Don't blame just the tires. The infrastructure of American roads and highways are terrible and need of repair at best.

Here's my install of the "Rattle Trap Extreme Sound Deadener".

This is in my 2015 Corvette C7. I have not completed this in my 2009 Jaguar XKR as of yet, but am considering the product.

The concrete of I-85 rides very low in my XK. The asphalt of I-77 is pretty quiet.

I did reduce the noise by going to Continental DW's from Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2's.(what a long name for a tire). The car is more floaty and the handling feel is inferior, but the noise reduction is appreciated.

The XK is designed to be faster than previous Jaguars, and that brings with it additional noise and harsher ride.
