Default Road trip to west Texas – part 3 - XK into the heavens

Up the roadway from Marfa are the Davis Mountains, McDonald Observatory sits at the peak of one of these mountains, at 7200 feet +/-.

The views are outstanding, the landscape great to look at, the roadways are wonderful, curvy and never ending. Great fun on a mc or with sporty car.

The trip was outstanding and anyone considering visiting this great state should spend some time in this area, the people are wonderful, the food and drink is great, the air is clean, clear and fresh.

Hope you got down to Big Bend National Park. You were very close to it.

Did you by chance enjoy a steak at the Riata Cafe in Alpine?

Nope, home base was in Marfa...many years ago I took 5+ trips in the area with friend on motorcycles and ate/drank everywhere, not this time. I was quite taken by the hotel and restaurant...Paisano.

Unwritten rule - the Jaguar must appear in all scenic views.

Great post. I always enjoy reading and seeing road trips.

On second thought ... why detract from such gorgeous pix? Deleted my irrelevant comment.
