Is that the RIGHT side of the divider? The clip goes on the LEFT side of the divider. The side where the battery is located. Either that or you have one weird car.
Well folks being the first year of the X150 Ill assume Jaguar quickly changed the design and there arent many of this type of cover out there confusing people. Im sure someone on here would have weighed in if there were many out there. On the road with no tools and realizing this cover which no one has seen has lost the metal cap or insert and I was able to find a peice of metal and put it in the slot, poof the top works! I sure would like to know what the original cover metal end looked like. Thanks for all who stepped up to help and I will take Steves advice and flatten out a peice of sheet metal and wrap the end for a permanent fix. Sorry, but what a stupid design. The roof does move but wont close in final stage, the hinge wont close due to the impedement (pic added) and I cant lift or move it by force to go into the slot to completely clos ethe roof. When pulling the realease cable to reset the roof it popped and wont again or reset and am unable to figure out why, could this be related.

Reason: pic removed type
That exact thing happened to me also, the misalignment thing. I can't rightly remember the fix, but it IS in a thread in this forum. Try the SEARCH function, or even a Google Search usually results in a link back to this forum.
I thought your problem was an electrical issue, and it wouldn't even try to close.
Yes it was electrical and with all my screwing around I assume I did something to mess with the alignment and the pull line. Ive been all over thi subject and havent seen anything about reseting the tonneau release and the alignment but thank you, will keep searching.
I THINK that all I had to do was a complete Manual Reset, by releasing the pump, popping the tonneau, releasing the windscreen latch and pushing the roof into the Down Position, then lowering the tonneau.
The procedure is outlined in the User Manual. Be SURE to operate the Pump Release properly, then ensure you properly reengage it.
I have same problem - inactive convertible roof after a battery change its a 2007 XK
The windows activate and go down
The roof disengages - but won't move after that - up or down
When I press button I hear a slight click sound
I tried the windows up/down to reset - no improvement
So the luggage protector must be seated properly. The sequence has started but stalled out at the roof
Any ideas would be appreciated
Do the windows got full-auto UP also? Well, DID they before the problem? Both fronts need to be calibrated for both directions after every battery disconnect.
If your roof STARTED to lower (disengaged from the windscreen frame), then you need to do a Manual Roof Reset by following the procedures in the User Manual.
Plus like Stuart said, nearly every "new" battery needs at least several hours of charging before it's even close to Fully Charged.

Also try holding the open or close button for a long time, over a minute, and see if it will resume travel.
