Rubber Ring In Jack Kit ??

Good Morning Everyone,
I've recently fitted the 19" spare wheel into the trunk/boot of my 2010 XKR (wasn't happy relying solely on the inflation repair kit). I've managed to locate the correct jack and brace kit that sits in the spare wheel but am
confused what to do with the large rubber band (approximately 5" in diameter)) that forms part of that kit. Apparently the retaining clamp fits over the jack handle when the wheel is secured but where does that 'retaining ring' fit ?? The part number is C2P12184. Any clues anyone ??

Thought other members might like to see the XKR I've just bought - 2010 with Speed Pack and Black Pack. It was originally a Jaguar press car and was featured (briefly) on Top Gear. It's only covered a genuine 34,000 miles and is FANTASTIC. The picture was from three years ago when it was sold to the chap I bought it from (I went to buy a boot mat from him and ended up buying the car !) Definitely a 'Keeper' !!
